      Question Sleeping positions and lucid dreaming and dream recall...

      So, I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed that their sleeping position effects dreaming and lucid dreaming?

      I've noticed that sleeping on my back (though the most uncomfortable for me) actually increases my chances of becoming lucid and that I definitely have more dreams (or just remember them better) in this position.
      I've never become lucid or had an OBE on my side or lying on my stomach, and my dream recall in these positions is really low. However, on my back my dream recall is great. Plus my chance of becoming lucid or having an OBE increases 10 fold when I sleep on my back.

      Anyone else noticed that their sleeping position effects their dreams and lucid dreams? Also, why do sleeping positions effect lucid dreaming and dream recall?

      Well, any position that you feel comfortable in, is the right position. I dont think its case of whether what position works best, its the most comfortable. But maybe people have weird positions that get them lucid.

      The weird thing is, sleeping on my back is the least comfortable for me I love to sleep on my side (normally on my right side) but sleeping in this position does not get me lucid and my dream recall is crappy. However, sleeping on my back helps me to become lucid or have an OBE. Plus my dream recall is great this way.
      Hmm, very strange

      Thanks for your input.

      Generally, if someone sleep on their stomach, the lungs are slightly compressed, making it easier to fall asleep. Also, this (in my opinion) would put you in a deeper sleep. Which, (again, in my opinion) would damper recall.

      If you sleep on your back, you fall asleep slower (or should.) This leaves your body closer to awake, (opinion) so LDing and so on should come easier.

      Your side is basically the between of these. (opinion... >___>)
      Bollocks.

      Heres something to consider is. Your heart is anatomicaly is located on the left side of the body. Sleeping on the right sight causes less pressure to exert on the heart.

      I will say that I have done almost all my OBE & WILD from my back.

      I usually ALWAYS LD when I sleep on my right side. In fact sometimes if I wake in the night or morning and find myself sleeping on my left side, I deliberately turn over to the right side and usually end up having a lucid or very vivid dream.

      I've heard many explanations about why people claim to have more LDs when sleeping on the right side, but I don't know how accurate any of them are. But the one that makes the most sense is what I quoted about less pressure on the heart. Also something about more blood being in the right brain hemisphere when sleeping on the right, though I have no idea if that is accurate or not. The strangest explanation I think I've heard though is that...lions sleep on their right side. lol...

      I can't sleep let alone LD when laying flat on my back. Though this is why all of my intentional WILDs start in this position.

      Yeah, I dont know about the science of it, but my most vivid dreams and LD's, happen when I wake up on my back. I go to sleep on my side a lot but maybe I should try an experiment and stay on my back for a week or 2. Its uncomfy but whatever.

      sp and HH - definitely on back... WILDs - more likely on back
      as for other ld's... equal on either side though i usually start out on right side and switch from side to side, dream to dream

      in tibetan dream yoga, women are supposed to sleep on their left, men on their right sides. so any number of systems can work for awareness during sleep if you train your mind well enough.

      I have noticed that I only wake up in SP if I wake up laying on my back. I also think I noticed that laying on my back does help with dream recall, but I'm not entirely sure. It is much easier for me to get myself into SP if I am laying on my back though, that's for sure (easiest is laying on back, limbs slightly spread).
      To do list:
      Have an LD(without waking up immediately) [x]; LD for more than 30 seconds[x]; LD for more than 2 minutes[x]
      WILD [ ]; DILD [7(ish)]; Fly [x];
      Practice a skill so that I will be better at it in real life [ ];
      Create world peace using a harmonica [ ];
      Solve a real life problem [ ]; Turn the world into a nudist colony [ ]

      I find sleeping on my front with my arms at my sides (and head turned to either side) is the most comfortable, but I seem to get better reception SP- and WILD-wise on my back.
      We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
      some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
