      Anxiety Ridden Dreams

Does anyone in this group know how to control dreams that are based around problems, suggested in the title?, for the last few nights, all i dream about is situations in which i have done somthing wrong, etc Making rats appear in my friends garden because i droped rubbish, being afriad of people who spraypaint my house, running away from an x-girlfriend etc. If someone can give me imput that would be excellent :-)

I'd suggest becoming lucid, and deal with the situations in dream time (seems to fix the issue for me)

You could deal with the cause of the problem in real life, however I'm not sure what is causing the anxieties, esp without more information (which I'm not qualified to analyse accurately)
But preliminarily, it sounds like it may be a confidence problem - you need to build up your self confidence perhaps

      Just my thoughts

Are your days really busy causing you to be stressed? If so, it may be transfering to your dreams. Then, if that's the case, I'd suggest taking/making time for yourself. Just sit down close your eyes and just relax. Focus on not doing anything for a little while. Or, go sit in a hot tub if you can. Especially do this before bed and try to go to sleep in a (for lack of better word) pleasant mood. I find that going to sleep in a good mood leaves my dreams odd at worst, and wonderful at best.

If that's not the case I'd still suggest just sitting down before bed and relaxing. Focus on any sorts of good things. Read the Bible for a while. I find that reading (especially the Bible) gets my mind off of the things of the day and I can escape from my anxieties. Becoming lucid does help, tho.

      I hope this was helpful

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate you guys spending the time in writing the message, not to sure about reading the bible to relax me though, more like scare me (lol) how can you read that book and be relaxed for sleep? My mind would be on overdrive! I usually do read before bed buts its usually fantasy based (stuff like Peter Pan, Treasure Island, Dream books etc) I’ve been thinking, the problem might be caused by totally giving up things that I usually rely on, I’ve stopped smoking tobacco, drinking and smoking weed, been about 2 weeks now, so that could be the reason behind my sudden change in dream anxieties? I’m not sure how to control it though, becoming conscious in dreams is so much more difficult now, its like a new programme, starting from the beggining again (lol) last night I had a dream in which I had to catch a bus (the number was 39) I missed it, they all seem to revolve around me missing somthing or avoiding somthing.

For me the Bible is convicting but encouraging, providing me with a sense of hope. I also love fantasy books and I (not as often as in the past) have enjoyed going to sleep with the taste of Robin Hobbs or Robert Jordan or David/Leigh Eddings, etc. in my head.

I congratulate you. From what I know about withdrawls (little but some) it can be a highly stressful time. I'm sure you'll get through it, though, and I hope your dreams return to normal.

Its not stressful during my waking life, just getting on as normal etc, but my dream life seems to be effected 100%, last night I also had really bad nightmare. Dreams in which I woke up repeatedly, for no reason I felt I’ll afterwards (etc) I could use it as a dream sign but the anxiety takes over my conscious mind. Last night I managed to ‘get rid’ of it by using semi- lucidity techniques.

I was in a city, a dark and depressing city, with evil all around me, I could sense it in my bones, surrounded by prostitutes and drug dealers, men who would give a blow job to another man for drugs etc. So much detail it was gloomy as hell! I was with a friend and we ran up to this truck, a guy was dead inside, his face was blue and pushed up to the window! I ran away really fast and also as a ran away saw a caravan in a field with a women inside who had also been killed, it was like that movie The Cell! Upon noticing the dead women, I thought to myself I can get away from this by flying and I did, but all the images had disappeared, like a deep sense of meditation and flying at the sametime.
