      Using hallucinations To Relax Yourself

      Yay!
Last night I started to get some decent sound hallucinations.
On my iPod I have this thing called Koi Pond which helps you relax and it has sounds of birds and frogs and other forest ambiance.
So when I was trying to get to sleep I suddenly had a thought about those frogs in Koi Pond and I could practically hear the soundtrack that was in Koi Pond. Then I tried to hear the birds. It didn't work at first, but suddenly I started hearing chirping in my head if I focused a little. It was seriously like playing the actual sounds from my iPod, and despite distracting me and allowing me to get sleep fast (without getting an itch and wanting to move or anything) it also helped me relax a lot!

So something I'd like to know is has anyone ever used a sound hallucination and tried to change it or use it for their own benefit, like me when I used my sound hallucinations for better.

      lol...I have koi pond.

Download "Naturespace" onto your ipod if you have not already done so. It's a free app. Is amazing...makes me hallucinate. See thread: Holographic Audio.

I've always been more of a visual person myself. I do remember being able to experience auditory hallucination at a younger age.

I think dreaming itself is the ultimate testament to how much our minds can be relaxed and restored by hallucinogenic phenomena. Some people claim that we are dreaming in every stage of sleep, and that itself is responsible for the vast majority of sleep's life giving properties.

I'm gonna have to check that out, I've been trying to give myself visual hallucinations for a few weeks now, using that guide that one guy posted. I actually saw something really move in a space about the size of my finger, by itself, so that made me happy that it was working. I found that if you stare hard into the darkness, it's easier too.

I already hallucinate audibly as well, because I'm bipolar. I hear what sounds like people talking a room or two away from me sometimes, but that's it usually. Though one time I did hear the word "origins" and heard a girl laugh in my ear. It doesn't bother me, I just wish it was more, it's like "oh hey, there's those lame hallucinations again, pfft." I can make them dim in sound if I try too, I'm not sure about raise though, it raises by itself sometimes, sounds like I'm in a concert hall. I was talking to a doctor about them, and asked if you could control them before I really knew you could, and he said yeah, you can try turning them down so they're not so disturbing to you, and inwardly I was like "disturbing?" but I didn't say it, because most people aren't like the people here, they wouldn't understand.

Hypnogogic hallucinations are one of my favorite things, I always see things flying around my room, or things changing to how it looks in my dreams. But it unfortunately, never lasts more then a few seconds. The transition back to reality is always interesting to watch though.

But yeah, when you hear a sound enough times, it can carry over and you hear it while everything's quiet sometimes. I played the pokemon games so much as a kid on my gameboy, that I actually heard the melody of battles and the music that plays as you're walking around as I was laying in bed. One time, probably a year or so ago, I was laying in bed, and heard the song "Cold" by Crossfade playing in my head. I thought, "hey, this is neat" and turned the music up. I even told a girl about it, and she said she did the exact same thing sometimes!

I'm honestly, if I can afford it, looking into taking the sleeping pill, Lunesta, as it says it can give hallucinations, plus it takes 2 pills of 80 mg Geodon to put me to sleep now anyway.

Most hypnotic sleep aids, including lunesta, are capable of inducing hallucination. However unless you really suffer from insomnia its probably not a good idea to risk taking a drug of this sort. In my experience these hypnotics have definite abuse potential and a long list of potential side effects.
