Im confused about a few things.

Ive read about it but i dont get it.
When people wild do they drift off while focusing on lucid dreaming and suddenly they find themselves in bed, and get up and there in the dream?

It can happen a number of ways, WILD is different for everyone and differs from attempt to attempt with an individual. Personally, I generally do one of the following.

      1) The dream scenery kind of fades in and becomes more real
      2) I suddenly find myself standing in a dreamscape
      3) I am in blackness and open my eyes to find myself in a dreamscape

      What have your experiences been?

SP is a normal condition that everyone experiences every time they sleep.

If you are asleep, you are in SP. The vibrations most people experience while WILDing are a result of your body entering SP. SP can often persist after you have awaken from sleep. To those that don't know what is happening, this can be a really scary experience since you are awake and can see what is going on around you but cannot move.

When you say "since you are awake and can see what is going on around you but cannot move." do you mean AWAKE, or in the dream state. Because some people see weird things go around them, but how can they if they are in there bedroom awake?

The point you bring up is the difference between being awake and having lingering SP and having a false awakening.

I am convinced that most of the alien abduction experiences people have are really false awakenings.

Have you read the tutorials on SP and WILD? Those should clear some of this up. Though I understand that you are being confused I also get confused when people talk about this stuff, I never seem to understand if people are refering to SP in the form it takes when it is a disorder e.g when it occurs outside the REM-cycle or if they mean either HH or maybe a combination of HH and SP. SP is still abnormal when you WILD I guess because it being outside sleeping.

My answer is probably confusing... I once more suggest you reading the tutorials for better understanding of SP

Hmmm... there's a great video on You/Tube about the science of sleep paralysis that might help... let me see if I can dig it up...

      Here we go:

Ok weird... I could swear I've seen embedded vids in here, but it wouldn't work. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCSqT5nZ9n4

Cool thanks, but if your eyes are open in your bed how do people see weird stuff as if they are dreaming?

Welll.... I guess that's hard to understand unless you've been there. I had a couple of SP episodes long ago, thought I had no idea what they were at the time. Let me try to explain...

In one I was laying there in bed, I must have been about 12 years old or so, so bedtime was 10:00. My mom was down the hall in her room and I could hear her moving around, could see light from her room spilling across the hall. I was looking into my open closet... just enough light was slanting across my floor that I could see the robe hanging there on a hook with a pair of boots under it. Suddenly I was hearing this weird sound... like a really fast thumpthumpthump that went on and on, and right before my astonished eyes, the robe and boots came alive and walked out into the middle of my room!! It looked like a dwarf wearing a big floppy trench coat and big boots, with a floppy hat pulled down over his head so all I could see was clothes, but he was in there. The thumping sound was his feet, only they weren't really moving fast enough to make that sound... weird... and the sound continued even when he stopped walking. (I realized later the sound was my dog scratching himself in the hallway). This little dwarf told me the secret to how to fly in dreams... he said there's a little muscle located in your solar plexus that you just have to squeeze and you'll be able to fly. That's all he said, then he went back to the closet and became just a robe and boots again and I was awake.

I didn't get any of the other symptoms of SP... no vibrations or fear or anything... but I know my eyes were open. I was seeing what was in front of me... but at the same time I was dreaming, so it seems like the dream image had to start with what I was looking at and then it went from there. So I guess you'd say the dream begins with what you're really looking at and then overpowers it and then you're seeing dream images that are based on the reality, only distorted in dream ways. That's the best I know how to describe it anyway.

It was many years before I found that youtube video and understood what had happened to me.... so maybe if you look back you might have actually experienced this and just didn't know what it was. If so then it'll help you to understand it.

      .....

I remember hearing Guillermo Del Toro say that when he was young he spent the night at his grandma's house (If I:m remembering this right) and he saw a Satyr step out from behind a cabinet and talk to him, then it stepped back and disappeared again. He accepted it as absolutely real, and some of the imagery from Pan's Labyrinth was inspired by this, but I'm quite sure it was really SP.

Actually I've flown many many times in dreams after that (not sure if I ever did before that though)... but it was never the way he said. Usually I find myself on a rooftop and kind-of sort-of realize I must be dreaming, and that if I just get my courage up and jump off I:ll be able to fly, and it always works. Heh... one time I was running through yards down a long shallow hill jumping over a bunch of fences like hurdles, and I got tired of always picking my feet up and putting them back down, so I just kept them up and drifted over a bunch of fences that way. Once I was sitting on a swing and I reached up with both hands and lifted the chains off the hooks, and by lifting up I could float upwards. I could steer by lifting harder with one hand, and move forward by pulling both chains forward. It was slow drifting though, and only gradually getting higher as a german shepherd chased me. Luckily there was a lake in front of me that stopped him as I drifted out over it.

Lots of ways I've flown, but never by squeezing that muscle in the solar plexus. Often though when I;m flying I do get a little thrill from that area, just like I used to get when going really high on the swingset as a kid.

      ...

This just made me think about something... I think a lot of times when we fly in dreams or move along in some weird way it's just that the dreaming mind is tired of making all the necessary movements involved in walking. A lot of times I find myself drifting along at regular walking height and speed, but my legs aren't moving and my feet aren't touching the ground. Heh... I remember once I stood with my knees bent and stuck my arms out in front of me like I was waterskiing and I could glide along on the ground at a pretty good speed! That was really fun! And once I could fly fast but only a few inches off the ground, my body rippling to follow the exact contours of the ground. It felt like I was gliding over a smooth oiled surface (but it was rough dirt and I'd glide up and down the front of a bluff along one side of the field). Man, I Love some of the crazy methods of dream perambulation!!
