You probably got confused because some people say that the effects of Salvia are somewhat similar to being in a dream. I didn't think so personally. Salvia doesn't induce any lucid dreams. It simply makes you have a quick trip (15-25 minutes tops) in the sense that mushrooms and acid makes you trip. The effects however are different than any other hallucinogen. Also, you could say that because of the effects being similar to a dream, that it could help you prepare for realizing you are dreaming. I don't know how true this is...

As for the right salvia, they only vary in strength. If it just says Salvia, then its regular. Salvia 5x is a concentrate that is aprox. 5 times stronger, 10x is aprox. 10 times stronger and so on. When I tried it over a year ago, I only got good results out of 10x and above. The strength of your "trip" will depend on the strength of the salvia, how much you inhale in one breath, and how long you hold the smoke in your lungs. If everything goes right, you should start feeling it before you let out the smoke.

There were a few other posts about Salvia that I never looked at, but here's the link if you wanna check it out.

Actually, there are a wide variety of salvias, from ornamental houseplants to mints. Salvia Divinorum is the one that gets wrongly connected with lucid dreaming, probably because it (theoretically) kicks you into a REM state. None of the other salvias are known to be psycoactive.

Tyrantt23 is right about the varietites of divinorum, they're concentrates, all the same stuff.

Missouri is attempting to add it to their list of controlled substances, BTW. Best get while the gettin's good, though I don't reccomend it, legal or otherwise, for the inexperienced. Just a matter of time, it'll be lumped in with all the commonly abused drugs.
