How did you guys become so successful?

How do yall lucid dream so well? I've been trying for very close to a year now, and I've had two LD's so far and the longest one was close to 15 seconds long. What are your tecniques? I've tried everything, WILD, HILD, MILD, pretty much everything you can think of.

EDIT: I had another one while the site was down, it was like twenty minutes long!

I think it may be easier for some than others -- but I think you just have to keep trying different methods, and maybe come up with some ideas of your own, until you find something that works. And don't give up!

I don't know what your position on drugs are, but if you smoke weed it can become a lot harder to get good results - and I'm speaking from personal experience. I tried for a couple of months while I was smoking with little or no results. After giving it a break around new year's, I had my first lucid dream within 2 weeks, and my second one a week after. I believe the main reason for this conflict between dreams and the ganja is related to dream recall.

If however you do not smoke, then try improving your dream recall. Writing journals are a real pain, but the results are definately worth it. With time you are able to remember more dreams, which get you more acquainted with the "dream state" which improve your chances of becoming lucid. Not to mention that if you do become lucid, you have more chances of actually remembering your dreams.

About how good is your dream recall? How about your methods of induction, did you get any type of results? I guess most of all, maintain a good attitude when you go to bed that you will actually lucid dream.

I don't smoke.

My recall used to be amazing, I could remember about 4 or 5 dreams every night, now I remember about two a night and about once a week I don't remember any.

I have many personal tecniques, one of them got me my second lucid dream

It seems to be easier for some people than others. Something to do with brain chemistry. I have a cousin who is lucid almost all the time. She never realized it was anything special.

My wife has never had an LD, she rarely even remembers her dreams.

There is also the matter of how long some have been working on it. I've been lucid dreaming longer than some of the peeps here have been alive, but I still have to work on it every day. If I get lazy and slack off, dream recall goes to almost nothing and LDs become few and far between.

I got myself hypnotised to do it, I know it's cheating, but it's still drug free lucidity.

Sometimes just not caring & being worked up about getting an LD, can suprisingly bring one on. Worth a try

I think the easiest method for me to get a lucid dream is to tell myself before I fall asleep that I WILL have a lucid dream, but that doesnt always work.

I hate to confirm this, but my only 2 LDs to date happened when I wasn't trying as hard as other times.

Just last night I got up around 5am to go to the bathroom. Went back to bed and figured I'd have a good chance of getting lucid with the WILD method (I've seen a lot of posts here about that). I pretty much laid there on my back, still, with my eyes closed for about an hour and a half - some tingling sensations every now and then, but nothing more.

I finally gave up (knowing that I had to get up in 45 minutes) and rolled on my side (pissed off). Next thing I know, I remember having 3 mini dreams in that 45 minute period!

If I wasn't such a novice at this I could have become lucid in at least ONE of them!!

ARGHHH, so aggrivating!

Keep trying, my friend, the rewards are worth every second.

I've managed to have lucid dreams TWICE this week alone! I don't know how, but I think it's because before I sleep, I expect to have a dream.

What I'm aiming for next is to succeed in WILD.

Done think of it as having a dream. when you go to bed just belive that your going to a nother world. Know that in a few hours you will not be in your room anymore, you will be somewhere lece and in that place you have the power to manipulate everything if you chooose. You have powers in this new place.

I dont know if this will work for you if you dont belive it thogh. When iI was little I alwaysd belived this(Im a naturla lucid dreamer) so maby this is all it takes...

Belief, confidence, knowlege, and skill. Always having the learners mindset plut I believe the technique I used to induce lucidity is superior to the on most people use.

Is the technique posted somewhere in this forum? If not, would you mind sharing the technique?

I've been doing reality checks at least twice every waking hour, but it haven't been working too good on my dreams. Maybe because I always do them when I'm not concentrating on something or when there's not much going on in my waking life. In my dreams however, I'm always doing something or interacting with someone; there's never a time that I'm just "bored" per say.

Ahh its not cheating, worked fine for me anyway. Just use LDGuy's HILD technique, I started having LDs a lot more after that, although I havent had any recently, its because I havent been keeping up with any sort of technique at all since. LDs still just happen randomly to me now and then though.

My success has been very limited, so don't feel bad and don't think you're alone in this. I've had 6 short (under 30 seconds) LDs since I joined back in July. My most recent one came from an ~"adapted" (?) technique where I woke up at night, got a drink of cold water, crawled back into bed, and kept repeating to myself, "I will realize I'm dreaming" over and over again. I haven't been very motivated to try it again, but hopefully soon.

Success doesn't depend on what others say, but on how you view your progress. If your recall has improved, there's progress and therefore you've been successful in some sense. Don't worry, though. Worrying can create wierd dreams and frustrating results.
