Hi everyone, I realize this is a long post. i apologize. The first bit is more of a background leading up to explaining why im posting. my actual question is in the last paragraph if you want to skip to that.

ive been reading these forums for quite a while and finally decided it was time to join. I've been interested in lucid dreaming for the past couple months after finding a website through stumbleupon (for those that don't know, stumble basically sends you to a random website). So far i haven't had any luck with WILDs but i have had a few lds where i realized i was dreaming during the dream (not sure about the technical term, DIELDs maybe?) Anyway, for the first couple lds i became lucid after falling asleep in a dream. Something strange would happen and i would use the nose pinching RC and realize i was dreaming. Usually, even though i was lucid it felt like i was being pulled or guided along a specific path, or course of events, in the dream. If i tried to change the course of the dream i would usually wake up. Lately though ive started to become lucid in a dream without having to first fall asleep in that dream. Interestingly enough when this happens i dont have to do an rc because i just know its a dream when something strange happens. Also ive been able to remember goals from real life that i wanted to try which i hadn't before. For example a couple nights ago i became lucid in a dream. The details arent really important but i was driving a car and realized i was dreaming. I then immediately remembered that i wanted to try one of the techniques to really increase the vividness of the dream, hoping that this would prolong it. So i said out loud something along the lines of "increase vividness". This kind of worked but it was still blurry so i tried another approach. I closed my eyes and said, "When i open my eyes there will be a dial on the car's dashboard that will make this dream more vivid", but not in so many words. When i opened my eyes there was a dial and i used it to make the dream really vivid. Now i guess i should note that these dreams are usually very short, id say 10 min max. Well this one was no exception, as soon as the dream became more vivid i woke up. Now this post is getting really long but the above is kind of the background leading up to why i'm posting.

I have a question about a lucid dream i just woke up from. As i mentioned earlier, in my dreams, even if im lucid, it seems that there is always something guiding the dream and if i try to intervene i usually wake up. Its like every lucid dream is like a normal dream except i consciously know its a dream. Anyway in this dream some how i realized, for no reason, that i was dreaming. I didn't have to do a RC because i just knew. As soon as i realized this, the dream faded to black and then when the blackness cleared i was sitting at my desk, it was dark, and my vision was very blurry so i knew that there was a good chance that the dream was going to end soon. Since that was the case i immediately remembered my goal to ask if i had a dream guide. Now this is the part where im not sure what happened. When some people ask for there dream guide they meet them. When others ask they see nothing. When i asked, "Do i have a dream guide", everything went black and could hear a very loud and very angry growling. It sounded like it was coming from right over my shoulder. there was also a very faint laugh. Not the, haha that was a good joke type of laugh. No, the kind that belongs to a person in a padded cell. I could also feal something clawing at my back. I tried to turn around to see what it was but i was completely paralyzed. I struggled for a little to see if i could somehow break through this paralysis but since i couldn't i decided to just wait it out. I even started laughing a little on the inside because i realized it that even though it was a dream, my dream, i had no control over it. After a few long seconds the blackness started to fade and i woke up. So i guess my question is has anyone else experience some type of resistance like this when trying to see there DG? and if any more experienced lucid dreamers have any thoughts on this id love to hear them. Sorry for the long post.
