Is hypnotism dangerous?????!?!?!?!

Somebody please tell me. I heard that it was dangerous to hypnotize yourself because you can f*** up your self. I thaught if you were carefulll you couldn't. I am 13. Will it harm me if I attempted a HILD? Oh yea, and how do I know once I am hypnotized. I cant seem to make myself feel heavier. Somebody help me with this. But I really need to know about this because one of the teachers in my school said hypnotizing myself is dangerous. I figured that if you didn't say anything stupid to yourself, nothin bad would happen. If you accidently blurt out "Everytime you hear a door bell act like a rooster." it won't actually listen right? You have to put some intention and will into it right?? RIGHT???!?!?! SOMEBODY TELL ME PLEASE FIGHT NOW!!!! THIS IS URGENT. PRIORITY #1 NUMERO UNO!!!!!!! ANSWER ME!!! HURRY UP!!! My understanding is that you can't be hypnotised to do anything that you wouldn't do anyway. Although I don't know too much about the subject. I from my limited understanding the most dangerous thing about normal hypnosis is that the power of suggestion becomes much more powerful. So it is concivable that if you hypnotised someone else you can maybe alter sketchy memories, or sway their opinion on something if they're on the fence. I think this is why hypno-therapy isn't popular for thing like recovering repressed memories. The therapist can make assumptions about the memory and form an event around it, convincing the patient that a false memory is in fact true. So anyway about your question regarding slef hypnosis, you can hardly convince yourself to do something in a hypnotised state that you wouln't do otherwise, and you can't suggest something to yourself that you hadn't thought of before anyway. So I'd be inclined to think that self-hypnosis isn't dangerous. However, let me reiterate that I am certainly not an expert on the matter. I suspect that you're teacher is probably concerned because she associates hypnosis, meditation, etc. with the occult, and is worried that delving too far into something percieved as mystical while not dangerous in and of itself can lead to dangerous life decisions, such as drugs, cults and so forth.
