      Oversleep and lucid dreams

I took a 3 hour nap from 3-6 pm yesterday trying to have a lucid. I then went to bed from 11-7 with a WBTB/in MILD the middle, and it was very hard for me to fall back asleep. Was this because I got nearly 12 hours of sleep that night? I felt like masturbating to help me fall asleep, but didn't want it to hurt my chances of having a lucid, since some people here say it might.

yeah you probably had too much sleep that day. There is a way of using oversleeping to promote lucidity like the CAT method. But they would be DILDs rather than WBTB, because once you've woken after say 9 hours of sleep, it's pretty tough to go back to sleep. What time did you wake up for the WBTB? I don't know why masturbation would harm your chances of LDing, but I haven't looked into it. And isn't it better for dreaming to masturbate and fall asleep than to not fall asleep at all?

I got up around 4 for the WBTB, and stayed awake for 15 min (Bathroom/reading about LDs.) In the future, I'll probably just masturbate and fall asleep rather than toss and turn all night. I tried CAT a while ago, but it was too extreme for me to maintain. Standard CAT is DILD, but WILD/MILD variations work too.
