      Actually I find that for the background and theory behind lucid dreaming, those books are great. Also, even though they only provide the raw, uncustomised techniques, I think it might be best for people to start with those, and fit the technique around the way they work for themselves.

      Oh, and reading about lucid dreaming in those books always makes me feel really good about it and gives me the will to actually try out some techniques.

      Other than Stephen LaBerge I would say the most renown author on lucid dreaming would be Patricia garfield. She has a bunch out there.
      Some others;
      Rosmamary Ellen Guily, PH.D. -The dreamers way. I have read. Her other one, The Encyclopedia of dreams I have not.

      Concious dreaming, By Robert Moss. I have read it but I would not give it my *DUMB approval.

      I also suggest that anyone interested in lucid dreaming explore the notion of topics related to the concept of lucid dreaming.
      For example, the book Awareness, by Anthoney de Mello. Or books on medition. Books on consciousness. Many subjects, lots of books. But books that help you focus on what is reality and what is not and your awareness of that seem to be of great help.

      I don't know how closely you've looked at the TOC on Amazon.com, but this book looks great. I've ordered it and will let you know how I like it. It certainly covers the topics I'm after, and from what I read of the excerpt, it looks to be very well written.
