      A few interesting (IMO) experiences

I'm new to really trying to do this, although I have been interested in it for a long time. I always wanted to find out about this and this website was everything I'd been loooking for. I can remember some of my dreams, and I've controlled maybe two of them. I've had some other interesting experiences with dreams though, and I thought some people here might be interested in them. I love hearing about dreams and talking about them.

I know that one of my "dream cues" is not feeling pain when something should hurt. I got bit by this giant Nazi dog (lol) in one dream, and when I noticed that his teeth produced no pain, I though "I'm dreaming" and began to pummel the dog. I woke up in a few seconds though. Last thing I saw was a very confused expression on the dog's face.

Often, when I'm first slipping off into the "transition state between sleep and wakefulness", I'll start thinking thoughts that don't make sense, but then I'll have a reality check. Most of the time the thought mostly or completely vanishes when that happens.

During that same stage, as I'm drifting off to sleep, I'll often begin to have dreams. Sometimes, in the dream, I'll be compelled to do some violent action, such as punching something, and I'll do it in real life and wake up. It always scares me (not frightens, jsut startles me out of my sleep) which makes me wake up feeling frightened because of my movement. This happens most often when I am very tired, but don't immediately go to sleep. It usually takes me a while to go to sleep.

The wierdest experience I've had really had nothing to do with dreaming, but is still interesting. I was laying in bed, looking out the window and thinking about something. I blinked, but when I opened my eyes from the blink, the window had changed from blueish twilight to a dark-orangeish dawn. I was still following the same train of thought, although I quickly deemed it unimportant and dismissed it. Anyway, I looked at the window for a second, and then I blinked again. The orange got brighter. I looked over at my alarm clock. It was about 6:00 AM. I blinked. The time went to 7:00 AM. I blinked again and it was 7:30. The periods of time kept shrinking until they were one minute long, and then I was just sitting there in bed blinking like an idiot, trying to make it happen again. The most remarkable thing is that nothing changed during the course of any "blink". It felt no different than if I were to blink right now.

Anyway, as you can probably tell, I'm very excited to find a website dedicated to this.

edit: Also, I almost always remember my dreams if I wake up and then go back to sleep (it's like my memory starts up and then doesn't shut down while I sleep some more).

edit 2: Another experience I had, I was shot by an unnaturally large bullet that was definately drawn from a cartoonish game I had watched someone play the day before. I felt pain, woke up, and rolled off my bed. My chest hurt for a couple minutes after that. The general sensation was that the bullet blew me out of my bed. And yes, my chest did hurt before I hit the floor.

edit 3: Oh yeah. I can also tell myself to wake up whenever I want unless I don't get enough sleep, and if I set my alarm, I usually wake up one minute before the time I set it to. Probably because my body really dislikes the really loud alarm buzzer.

Have you ever tried to step in my shoes?!
Have you ever tried to balance on that beam?!
And if you ever tried to step in my shoes,
They’d never be quite as soft as they seemed.

Wow, all that sounds so interesting. The part where you look at the window and it changes color is the kind of stuff I wouldnt mind seeing
