Hi everyone,

Long time reader first time poster.

I've been practicing lucid dreaming since november 2013. I had quite a bunch of LDs without being able to make them come at will.

I think I've read like everyone else here every method possible and surely tried them all.

All of my LDs happened while I were dreaming. Without any particular reason, I become lucid.

I'm walking on a corridor and lucidy suddenly comes. Or, I'm walking in the street. Or, I'm climbing down stairs.

Therefore I began to give a serious thoughts about how, where and when I was getting spontaneously lucid and the answer was clear : while I was walking.

Moreover, some senses are developed quite a lot when we dream, such as vision and hearing since we both see and hear things.

But do you remember walking ??? No. When we dream seems like we move like ghost, without any physical sensation.

The only exception is during those nightmares when you're chased by some evil beings and that you can't move or can't move quicker. Then and only then you could have any feeling related to motion. But thoses nightmares are more than rare so they dont count.

Think about it : do you remember walking when you dream ? Do you remember the contact of the ground ? Your legs moving ? You don't. You dont because you don't have a physical body so you can't have a physical motion sensation.

Therefore, noticing that I was getting spontaneously lucid when I was walking and noticing that I had not any feeling of physical motion when dreaming made me conclude that there was the key to get lucid.

A kind of self awareness limited to a small part. I called it SILD (steps induced lucid dreaming) because the core of the principel is to get aware of the steps when we walk in real life.

What I do is that when I walk in the street, I'm aware of both my feet hitting the ground. I can feel that I dont hit the ground equally (I may have a stronger leg) and so I will notice it. Or, I will feel under my shoes the difference of type of ground I'm walking on. Each ground surface creates a different feeling when you walk onto but usually we dont notice it. When I climb up/down stairs (metro, or inside a big shop for instance) I will really feel my feet climbing up/down each stairs, the vibrations I get from doing this etc.

You got the idea : be aware of just one thing, walking/stepping/climbing, anything related to the walking motion.

So I'm aware of that because I know that when I'm dreaming I won't have those sensations and because I won't have them then I'll know that I'm dreaming.

ADA is too demanding and seriously I'm not even sure that all what is required for a full ADA is really necessary.
Self awareness is the key and by this method of SILD, you reduce the self awareness to one element which is less mental draining/demanding

I became lucid twice this week with this method. I was walking and all of a sudden I realized that I had not any sensation from moving. This sounded weird and made me become immediately lucid.

As for every method you will have to give it some times since you are rewiring your brain to take into account in your waking life elements which were totally ignored.

But with some time and practice, it seems (I say it seems because I'm just beginning to see results from this method) that it will lead you to become aware that you're dreaming.

I'm still working everyday on it. You dont have to do it all day. Today I walked back home walking instead of taking the metro and then during all the way back (30 minutes walking) I was focusing on those sensations coming from the walk. A bit everyday was enough to allow me to become lucid twice this week, so there's no reason it should be different for you.

Just try it for a month and see what happens. A month is a good time frame to experiment a new technique and see whether it works or not. Moreover, this technique is not at all mind draining so doing it for a whole month is not a big deal.

Good luck all
