To clarify about using melatonin or 5-htp or something like it, I just want to point out that hey help you recall your dreams. They also seem to help you recall more dreams per night, and I suspect they even increase how vivid the dreams are. Therefore, it increases the chances of lucid attainment. They are by no means instand-lucid pills (which I don't think you think, just had to say it :) ), and there seems to be a chance of your body getting used to them. So after a while, the effects seem to wear off. I only take 5-htp very sporadically now. In fact, when I first started taking it, my nutritionist had suggested it for insomnia. Helps to calm a racing mind, as you stated. The added bonus was better dream recall and lucids, but I noticed a huge spike, then a low plateau. So I decided to take them only every now and then, maybe to burst out of a dry spell, as oreoboy1996 once suggested to me.
With all that out of the way, I'm happy to see that you became lucid after a FA. I do that alot myself! Sorry about the recall last night though.. I find that now with school out, there's kids and dogs and all kinds of noise killing me.
