      hi, new here

I'm new here, I stumbled upon this site because I am seeking to understand my dreams more... I have dreams that are very vivid. I'm not sure if they are lucid... I have had dreams where recently deceased people that I cared about came to me to give me messages. Messages that I understood. One was confusing, and re-occuring, but once I understood what he was trying to tell me, it never happened again. I can elaborate on this more later. What puzzles me is I wonder if the person was really "in the dream." Was I really conversing with a dead person? Or was it just me, trying to understand?

I also have dreams where I'm in other realms, and I know that I'm in other realms. I know that I'm dreaming sometimes (and I learned tonight, that means I'm a lucid dreamer). I have dreams that have people in the plot that I'd rather not see. I try very hard to leave my past behind. The people in my dreams are not trying to hurt me....but it's hard to let go of the past when I have dreams that contain people from it. Anyways.....I need to start learning what I need to do, so I'm going to finish up this post. Peace.

      Welcome to DV

Sounds like you might want to check out Beyond Dreaming and Inner Sanctum.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

      Hey CCL Welcome to DV!

As Taosaur said, check out the Beyond Dreaming section if you're really wondering if you're being "visited." It's really a matter of opinion and you have to decide what you believe is going on. Some people will tell you that you're seeing souls/spirits, but others will tell you that it's all in your own mind. The best person to decide is you.

As far as avoiding people you'd rather not see, there's not much you can do when you're not lucid unless you can incubate dreams that you'd like to have, but when you become lucid, with practice you'll be able to send away dream characters and bring others in. Just give it time and be persistent.

Let us know if there's other ways we can help. Sweet lucid dreams!
