      Hello :)

      Hello, fellow lucid dreamers!

I've been lucid dreaming occasionally for several years now. 'Occasionally' means one lucid dream about every two or three months, and lucid dreams were usually very short, longest probably spawned 10-15 minutes, no more. I did intentionally fly and control my dreams from time to time (like polymorphing angry looking monster into a beautiful girl), but it was not always successful. Also, all of my lucid dreams were dream-induced, and frankly I kind of thought WILD was either just a fantasy, or the ability few people possess that cannot be learned. So I probably got a lot to learn. I've been reading this website a lot lately. As I was inspired by success some people have achieved, I'm now trying to gain some control of lucid dreaming. First of all I want to have lucid dreams come more often and last longer.

For the last few days, probably starting with Wednesday, I'm going for the lucid dream with all I have: dream journal, regular reality checks and WILD attempts every night at 5 AM. So far, I *maybe* had one successful, but very short, WILD. However, I was relatively good at recalling regular dreams I had these days. Still I got a couple of questions, so I decided to register to ask them away (I'm usually a forum lurker):

      1. Whenever I try WILD, I usually get to the hypnagogics, but the moment I realize I see HI, I wake back up. Is it natural? Can I overcome it with persistent practice?

      2. The one time I *probably* succeeded, I clearly lost my intent to stay awake in the process. I don't remember entering sleep paralysis. Not that time, not ever. But I vaguely remember when I got into a dream I remembered that I'm supposed to be dreaming right about now, and that made me lucid. Was it really a WILD or a DILD?

      3. One night I had this strange thing couple of times: I was quite relaxed, I think, but suddenly I wanted to breath more often, and my heart was beating faster. First time it happened I tried stabilizing my breath and it all went to 'normal' - mind awake, body awake. I didn't move an inch, and soon it was back. Then I went with the flow, and it only intensified, heart was beating like crazy, I got very faint HI, but no sounds, and then I guess I couldn't take it anymore and woke up fully, heartbeat and breathing going back to normal, and HI disappeared. By the way, that night I ultimately failed to fall asleep, so two hours reserved for lucid dreaming went into nothing and in the morning I was infuriated. What the hell was that? And how do you breath during WILD? Do you control it until the very moment you enter dreamworld or do you just let go?

      4. Whenever I keep my mind awake and let my body relax, I cannot fall asleep. Actually, two of my attempts at WILD ended in me just lying still for an hour, then failing to get even some normal sleep. If I forget to keep mind awake, guess what, I fall into normal sleep. How do you keep your mind awake, but in a way it won't prevent the body from falling asleep?

      5. I can only fall asleep on my back during the nap, but almost never during the night. I usually relax on my back, then turn over, because on my back I wake up from HI even if I'm not trying for LD. Is it normal?

Im not very experienced at WILD, but i've read alot about them, so ill try to answer your questions
      1. Yeah, just keep on trying. Its as they say, never ever give up!
      2. Ill see it as a DILD, but it clearly was triggered by you WILD attempt. 2/3
      3. I dont know, but from my small attempts of Astral projection, which is about the same, i remember this. Rapid heart and/or breath activity is a usual "Sympthom" of REM. Just follow the beat and you work out just fine.
      4. When going to sleep is actually the hardest time to WILD. Try a nap or waking up after a REM-cycle(Check a WILD tutorial to learn about that, too advanced for me)
      5. This differs from different people.

      Hope i helped out some,

You sure did. Especially with this one:

By the way, if I feel sudden urge to move my eyes, well, rapidly, should I do just that? ))

I don't try for WILD in the evening. When I can have a nap, I use it for WILDing, but every night I wake up specifically for a WILD after 6 hours of normal sleep. I write a dream journal entry, if there's anything at all I remember, take care of all simple needs, and go for it.

Thanks for your support By the way, I had a semi-lucid DILD today. I don't remember what induced it, and I forgot (or didn't have the time) to stabilize the dream, so it fell apart and I moved on into non-lucid dream.

One more thing. When I don't try to induce lucid dreams intentionally, I usually don't become lucid through logic or reality checks (though I'm trying my best to make classical reality checks a strong habit, hold on as I count my fingers right now...), but instead get an intuitive feeling that I'm dreaming. Usually most effective reality check for me is just to ask myself: "is this a dream?", without questioning specifically whether the laws of physics still work, or if the current situation is possible in the real world. And even if laws of physics work perfectly and there isn't anything surprising in my surroundings, I don't remember ever answering this question wrong. But from most posts I read people are using logic, reality check or dreamsigns to figure out they are dreaming. Does anyone else use pure intuition?

      I did it!

After less than a week of trying, lucid dreams returned. And today, I had whole bunch of them - one DILD, two DEILDs and one false awakening turning into DILD.

I didn't have much time though: every one of these dreams melted away under a minute, but I did have time to try some funny things, like putting my hands through glass and flying. And failed both As I tried to go through glass, my hand did go easily, but disappear on the other side, so I pulled back and woke up. And flying started with jumping five meters high and ended one second later in an epic fall It didn't hurt at all, though.

The last one was false awakening. I awoke from the sound of alarm, and as I was already about to stand up and go to work, I saw a black and white TV nearby. That wasn't supposed to be here, since I took considerable effort to persuade the landlord to take the blasphemous thing away. So I did a reality check, and yep, I was lucid. Then I tried to figure out if the sound of alarm is coming from the real world or not. The alarm was playing Breaking Benjamin, but I always wake up with Amorphis. So I still had plenty of time to enjoy my lucid dream...

Or so I thought. Seconds later I awoke. I guess I still have a lot to do to restore my old skills and to improve upon them. But this is a definite success
