Having Trouble Figuring out my dream

I am very new to this forum, well like ten minutes new, and I have been looking around for an answer to my dream, but I can't find one. I keep having the same dream over and over again and it's very strange. The dream has no real beginning but I keep dreaming about my wife having sex with my dead father. It's not that she's cheating on me in the dream, it's more like I'm sharing her with him. I don't really catch them having sex, but I just know they are having sex. It's a very strange dream and if I would have had it like once or twice, I wouldn't think anything of it, but I've had this dream at least a couple dozen times in the past few years. My father died in 2001 and I didn't start having these dreams until about five years ago I would say. I don't have a specific date for when they started, but I do know that they don't go all the way back to 2001. I really have no idea what these dreams might mean, but obviously they mean something otherwise I wouldn't have them all the time. Does anyone have any idea what these might mean? I've looked all over the internet for meanings of dreams and I can't find anything to help me out. I am very confused and actually kind of sick of these dreams. I either want to figure out what they mean or find a way to stop them from happening again. I wake up really frustrated with my wife sometimes for no apparent reason. Does this make any sense to anyone? Michael

The dream might not mean anything in a literal way. It's a bunch of symbols thrown together by your brain. You give it meaning by how you interpret and respond to it. Consider a less literal interpretation. Maybe the characters and actions represent ideas or qualities of yourself. A father might just stand in for a sense of authority. A wife might just stand in for something precious you don't want to lose. And sex in dreams is like salt: it goes on everything. But what matters most is how the dream makes you feel. That is what is bothering you. Set aside the content of the dream and just allow yourself to feel the emotion that it stirs in you. It's likely that the negative emotion is just a clouded expression of some deeper positive truth. Just as an example: You may feel upset with your wife, but really you just want to protect and care for her. Peel away the imagery and the storyline and reach for that basic truth that you feel.

I do not know, but I do believe that dreams is something related to your subconsciousness, something that you do not want to remember or others.

I agree with sisyphus...on another note, it should make it super easy to realize you're dreaming and thus lucid dream much easier than most Then you can just change the scene or whatever.
