      I don't understand....

the concept of Lucid Dreaming. I'm able to read, move about, perform, but I'm not convinced that I'm able to change any of that in my dreams. An example: While standing in an unfamiliar room, I noticed a table in the corner, with a cloth on it. I removed the cloth to reveal an antique piano. I then found the sales receipt and read $4,000.00. I knew who the piano belonged to (person is deceased). So, when will I recognize a lucid dream?

Lucid dreaming is nothing necessarily more than dreaming and being aware of that fact. Doesn't have to involve any conscious control over the dream, which you may or may not have implied in your post :s
For me, the idea that I'm dreaming sometimes just sponteneously pops up in my mind. I reckon this'll be more likely to happen if you spend time thinking about dreaming.
If I do a reality check I just do it to get the fact that I'm dreaming 100% clear in my mind. But some people do them randomly throughout the day in real life, to build up a habit that eventually occurs in a dream. You might want to try that method.

Personally, I haven't had any success with the WILD method, where you go to sleep straight into a lucid dream without losing consciousness. But give that a try too anyway.

      Oh, and welcome.

Ummm, its kind of hard to understand what your asking.

It's not really recognizing its a lucid dream. It recognizing that it is simply a dream. For instance your just doing something in your dream, and then you have a realization that none of this is real and that it must be a dream.

If you change something in a dream or have control over it, it doesn't necessarily mean your lucid. In lucid dreams you can change anything if you like, for instance you could look away from the receipt and say it will change to 1 dollar. You look back and there you go its one dollar.

Perhaps your having difficulty with the concept of what control is. What is control afterall? Did my own mind trick me into thinking I had control... do I really have control?

But lucid dreams aren't about control, there about awareness... are you aware you are dreaming? are you aware of the "I". Basicaly are you conscious.

I don't understand the example of the piano. What are you trying to say... elaborate.

The human mind has far greater potential than society has conditioned you to believe.
