Is This Lucid Dreaming or Dream Control?

      I do this often.
When i'm having a nightmare, i sometimes realize that its a bad dream, or simply, that "i don't want to be here". I hate nightmares and the dark in general. But when that happens, I can "force" my eyes open. When I go back to sleep, I do sometimes return to the same dream- but not if I wait long enough before going back to sleep.
Is this anything? I've read other sites talking about controlling lucid dreaming and practicing, but I never practiced, It just happened.
Any sites or info you could provide would be great!

You're very close to a NILD (Nightmare Induced Lucid Dream). A lot of people have them, because it's one of the most common dream signs--almost everybody has nightmares. The trick is, rather than waking yourself, try to confront the problem. Kaniaz wrote a nice tutorial on it:

Hey lhathaw1 and welcome to DV As soon as you're aware that you're in a dream, then you're lucid.

That's good advice. Once you know you're dreaming, nothing can hurt you. Rather than waking up, you can confront whatever's in front of you or just send yourself to somewhere else.
