How can I tell whether I'm only dreaming of being lucid?

Hi All, nice to meet you guys.

My name is Nur Lan, 19 years old from Israel.
I used to subscribe to this forum a while ago while I was exercising
lucid dreams techniques, and which I quit after a few weeks of no apparent
      success.
Now I'm retryring it with more devotion, and within only two weeks of
exercising MILD (first week and a half were devoted to improving my memory
using the exercise mentioned on Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming / S.
Laberge) I had already had two lucid dreams.

My question is (and thanks to those who kept reading beyond the tiring
exposition , how can I really be sure that my lucid dream was not actually
a 'regular' dream, in which I dreamt of being lucid?
Recollections I've read about lucid dreams described them involving a
feeling of 'hyper-reality' and a striking sense of consciousness. In my
dream I remember saying 'this is a dream', looking at my hands(I can't
recall ever doing so in a dream), and trying to hover over a waterfall. But
still I don't remember feeling this sense of striking reality and
      consciousness.

Can it be, after weeks of reading and thinking of lucid dreaming, that I've
      only dreamt of being lucid?

      Thanks in advance,
      Nur Lan

Welcome to the site, Nur! (and nice chatting with you in private, also )

If you are aware that you are dreaming, then you are lucid. I think there are different levels of lucidity, and maybe you were at a lower level, but it still sounds like a lucid dream to me. With practice and experience, you should have better ones.

      Welcome Nur Lan!

If you did a reality check while in a dream (i.e., looked at your hands to see if they changed, plugged your nose to see if you could still breath,
looked to see if writing or the time had changed when you looked away and instantly looked back) then I would say that you were lucid
(in that you were aware enough that you were dreaming to try to verify it).

Figure out what defines you being conscious/aware/lucid right now as your awake. For instance: "This is reality, I know I'm not dreaming... I have full control of my actions..." Bascially if its the same in the dream world... your having a valid lucid dream that is actually realizing your dreaming and not just saying (unconscously) that you are.

      Think About It.

Hi, I´m new here and this is one of the major topics I´ve allways been curious about.
I mean, even though you´re doing things to check if you´re conscious of dreaming (like checking your hands etc.), how do you know you´re not actually just dreaming this, and not being in control of your actions? Can one really be 100 % sure? Especially if you´re interested in the subject and it´s on you´re mind during the day...

I had a dream where I was getting in my truck and putting the key in the ignition hole that happen to be in the center of the steering wheel. I thought, this is and odd place for the key to go but did not give it a whole lot of thought. But I did do a half hearted realty check. I don't remember exactly what the check was that I used but do remember saying to myself. "It's Real Enough" And I went on dreaming without becoming Lucid because I thought I was awake as we usually do. My Lesson to myself is being very specific about the reality checks and do a second one if not sure of the first.

Can one really be 100 % sure?

Philosophy No one can be 100 % sure of anything. A straight line is the shortest distance between two points. But in reality it should be looked at (for all intention and purpose). Meaning it will do for the present situation. It is applicable for a given purpose. And if the straight line isn’t straight is there anything in our power to make it straighter. So the bottom line- Does our awareness has to be any more aware or will it suffice for the time being?
