      Intro

Hi, my name's Alex, I'm new here...I've recently taken a new interest in lucid dreaming...it's something I have done before although I didn't really know about it, maybe only for a few minutes at a time. I've always been very interested in dreams and what they mean, and in the past few months have had dreams that have really scared some family members...

When I was a child I used to have a lot of nightmares-at least 2-3 a week. My mom told me just to tell myself I was dreaming, and I could stop them. The most memorable one I ever had was when I was about 10, I was riding my bike and came up to a cat (I'm a little wary of cats) and it leaned in to bite my leg; at this point I told myself I was just dreaming, it's not a cat; and when I looked down, it was a pair of socks rolled up in a ball. I've done this many times, realized that I am only dreaming, and manipulated small aspects of dreams.

The dream that has recently ignited a lot of research for me happened about 6 months ago. I am 23 years old. In my dream, I was my current age, sitting at my Grandparent's 25th wedding anniversary party with my mother, who was also my age. I didn't know right away that anything was wrong here, and no one else seemed to notice me. I started asking where one of my cousins, her husband and children were. My mom told me she didn't know who those people were, but my cousin was sitting over at another table, and pointed to a 10 year old girl. There were many other strange points to this, which made me eventually realize it was a dream, and the whole look was that of an old photograph. When I woke up in the morning, I called my mom, and described it to her, the cake, the dress she wore, the relatives who were there, and she confirmed that I had never seen photos of this event, she did not have any photos, but every detail I described was exactly as she remembered it.

Since that party I've been doing a bunch of reading, and because of how vivid all of my dreams are, I would really like to begin experimenting with lucid dreaming.

      Well...that's me and my story...

Hello there Alex. Don't worry about the confusion, most call me D or Alex D. The dreamguide Alex is called wasup, so no confusion there.

Anyway, good luck in your lucid dreaming and welcome to the forum.
