I often experience the same problem, i sleep for 7-8 hours without any dream recall, so i usually go back to sleep for another few hours and waste a good part of the day (lol). I dont use techniques anymore but i used to wake up after about 4 hours sleep, read for 30min on dreaming then try to will myself back into dreaming, that used to help to remember dreams.
