My Fear of heights

I've just begun my Dream Journal & I'm already seeing a common recurring aspect, I guess it could be referred to as a type of Dream Sign, heights. In the last two dreams I could recall, there was this height thing. One was a very high penthouse apartment & the other a bridge that was so high I could not see the ground. I have a serious fear of heights in my real life. Is this a common thing in dreams? A persons fears are exploited in their dreams. These were not Lucid dreams. I see there are a few similar threads found & I'll also do a search, Thanks, MAXX

Possible, your id is totally out of control in dreams, so it may manifest things you are afraid of. Start doing reality checks when you are up high. You can also use lucid dreams to get over you fear of heights. Heights can be fun in dreams, I love letting myself fall. Sometimes I'll fly up to the clouds just to let myself fall back down

Ya, I'm having problems with doing Reality Checks in my dreams. I'm just getting into this & I've been practicing the RC's all day during waking life & I hope it will soon transfer over into the dream world due to repetition. I've eased back on trying to force myself to have my first Lucid Dream, I'm told that wanting it too much will hurt more than it helps. It would be great if I could overcome my fear of heights. The funny thing is, there is this swimming hole near my house we used to go to everyday, called "The Falls". It's a small river & at one point there is a water fall with all these different height cliff's, the highest is called "Killer". It's 97 feet high & a straight drop. I used to only jump Killer when we went there years ago & would have no problem jumping it today(well if it was not 3 degree's outside), but put me on a fully extended 20' ladder & I freeze. Go figure.
