      should i try something new?

so i've had many lucid dreams before, although i'm still pretty new to this whole concept. my year has been very busy and tiring, so i don't always take the time to work on my skills. ever since i've been able to become lucid, i usually try the same thing every time i realise that i'm dreaming-flying. it has never seemed to work. i either just float back to the ground or something is in my way that stops me. and since i don't exactly spend much time working on my lucid dreaming, my first thought when i become lucid is always "try to fly." and i just can't.

should i try to focus on a new goal and come back to flying later? if so, give me ideas? i want something simple that doesn't take much work since my mind isn't always on lucid dreams, but also something that's interesting enough to keep me motivated into trying it.

ill tell u something and i dont know if that has to do with it but i guess so.

just be positive and think that u can do fly
and somehow u will do fly
u must think that u can fly
      and think its possible
and when u try just try it slowly and relaxed

i had dream and i could fly like 5 feets
then my friend was telling my something but i was keep trying and i flied like 30 feets
      i was like astronaut

      Here's a tip.
      Don't give up dude.

Also you need to really believe that you can fly. Don't try something else if that's your main goal.
And also, don't get frustrated. Take that from me, it's taken me 2 freaking years to start LDing and accomplish my goals. Just keep at it and keep trying to fly. Also when you RC (if you do) keep that goal of flying in mind.

      So pretty much.
      1. Believe that you can fly.
      2. Don't give up or get frustrated.

      Hope this helps dude!

I think trying something different might actually be a fine idea. It seems you are already leaning that way. It's not that you are giving up on flying, it's that you want to have a different goal that you can remember and complete.

I'd suggest doing a variety of reality checks when you become lucid. It's quite interesting and funny to actually experience the reality check when it fails. Also, they have the added benefit of reinforcing your LD skills which may help you to become lucid more often. And they are good for stabilizing the dream so that you can extend it long enough to try whatever else tickles your fancy, like flying.

So pick three reality checks. Let's say for example: plugging your nose and breathing, counting your fingers, and pushing a finger through your palm. These may or may not be the ones you use in waking life, if any. The goal here is to try them after you know you are dreaming and just enjoy the experience of whatever happens. You can accomplish them all in just a few seconds and it doesn't require anything but your own dreambody. If you succeed at it once, you can pick some different ones to try the next time.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.
