Im having a hard time trying to get to sleep...

Well, I think its because for the past couple of years, ive been going to sleep 12:00+. Now the past 4 days, Ive been going to bed at or before 10:00 and find myself not falling asleep untill after 12:00 usually.. I have been wanting to try the WILD technique, but seeing is how I cant get the right amount of sleep and wake up at the right time, I cant really.. Any help would be appreciated!

Well, I don't know where you live, but if it's in the United States, a cheap and viable alternative is Melatonin. It's the chemical in the body that makes you tired, so taking about 3 mg makes the average person feel very sleepy in about 30 minutes. Some people may need more, but try 3 mg first, and if it doesn't work, wait a few days for it to work itself out of your system (you don't want to build up a resistance or dependance) and try an increased dose, like 6 mg. It's safe up to doses more than 2 grams, since it's a naturally occuring chemical in your mind, and more than the normal presence of the chemical doesn't seem to have side effects. I think there might be some tighter restrictions on it in places such as Australia, but I'm not sure. Anyway, a bottle of 60 3mg tablets costs $5 or less and can be found at any GNC store.

Other than that, some people find exercising about a half hour before bed helps them sleep, others say warm milk before bed, or you could simply try to slowly work your schedule back to the time you want to be going to bed at. The fastest would probably be melatonin, though.

well, i'm a periodic insomniac...that is, i have good nights, i have bad nights. A good night is going to sleep not less than an hour after i've got into bed...a bad night, one of the worst, was when i lay there for four hours trying to get to sleep...
a good night also involves waking up feeling refreshed, which almost never happens. Hell, that hasn't happened in years!
i haven't found a solution, but i haven't tried much, i'm terrified of getting hooked on something.
My other problem is feeling very lethargic during the day...
maybe it's because you changed your going to bed time...i've been on this merry go round so long i can't remember my original cause!

I'm the same. You have to really focus on blanking your mind and relaxing. If you do alot of practice in controlling your thoughts. And you can get your brainwave activity to slow down, through breathing meditation and visualization. and stay in 1 comfortable position and dont move. You may be able to learn to fall asleep in a matter of mintes and LD at will.

I have trouble falling asleep a LOT. What helps me is usually just thinking about a story or a scenario -- like a movie in my mind -- and I become so focused on it, that I don't toss and turn, and eventually go to sleep.

I am having trouble to get sleep me to. Since 2 day, when I have read about wild. The wild afraid me. And when I go to sleep, I got some vibration in my head ( what exacly is a vibration?), and I cant sleep. I never have that before, and before I was able to sleep in 5min.

What exactly scared you about WILDing, Utherold? Maybe the vibration -- short, shaking movement -- is self-induced by the fear...?
