      Hello from Jish

Hello everybody and how are you?

I am an absolute beginner to lucid dreaming. I came on this website for 20 mins last night and had a little read and went to sleep.

Did I lucid dream you all ask? well..yes!

but its not so fantastic, my dream lasted for about 2 seconds before I woke up, It wasn't because I got excited or anything, I just woke up.

I got to the state by having my alarm clock going off in the morning, I pressed the snooze button which goes off every 5 minutes and started thinking about lucid dreaming
and that's how I did it on my first ever attempt!

Also my conscious recognition of trying to remember my dreams worked on the first night too, I remembered my dream the next (this) morning!, we will see how it goes tonight!

Since I'm new I took the time to read the FAQ page but still have a couple more questions so any help would be greatly appreciated.

      1) in general are peoples dreams vivid?
      2) I had a friend tell me that meditation, specifically clearing the mind would work great and I should learn this before I even attempt to lucid dream.
      3) what is a rough time-frame to be in a dream and does it differ from reality?

thank you in advance for your answers and I hope to contribute to the forum in the future!

      1) Mine are extremely vivid, with high emphasis on the five senses.

      2) Thats what I told my friend.

      3) The rate at which time passes by in a dream is proportional to the rate in reality.

      And... Welcome!

      1) in general are peoples dreams vivid?
Depends on many factor,s more notably: stress, tiredness, deepness of sleep...

      2) I had a friend tell me that meditation, specifically clearing the mind would work great and I should learn this before I even attempt to lucid dream.
Not a necessity, I meditate from time to time, but didn't start until active i was an active lucid dreamer.

      3) what is a rough time-frame to be in a dream and does it differ from reality?
It's usually 1:1, a number of studies have been conducted on the subject

Hello Pieman & ninja thankyou for your replies, you both answered very well the information I was after. I will practice meditation to see what effect it will have on my ability to lucid dream. It only makes sense that having control over your mind will give better & more vivid progress.

Ninja thankyou for the tip in chat, I will try it sometime, I thought perhaps I was joining a dog forum since you were all talking about how cute they were
look forward to talking to you all!

Hi there Jish, we talked in IRC for a bit
Seeing as ninja and pieman already answered your questions, i'm just gonna chuck in my 2cents for the meditation question
It really depends on what style of meditating you do; void meditation, focal meditation? If you're interested in learning about meditation, there's a course in the DVA section of the forums, which i will link here.

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!
