      Hello everyone

Hello everyone! Just introducing myself, stumbled on this website yesterday night after searching for websites on dreams since I've always been interested by them. Im not really sure where I stand on lucid dreams and recalling dreams. I can remember dreams every few days, but not steadily. I have some pretty diverse dreams, and from the ones i can remember i dont see any particular signs yet, although lately i've had a lot of dreams related to death, mostly by car accident (I was in a huge one some months ago which really freaked me out) but they're interesting because they aren't really nightmares, I'm not particularly frightened in them.
As for lucid dreams, I'm not really sure whether I've had any or not.. A LONG time ago I had one dream where i was with a friend and i "realized" i was dreaming, so both of us were pretty much talking to each other saying it was a dream but im not sure if that was PART of the dream or if i actually realized i was dreaming (if that makes any sense whatsoever).
I had one other dream long ago as well where it was morning and around the end of the dream, i had a sort of choice between waking up and continuing the dream, just like two doors i could go through. I just chose to wake up and that was the end of that.
Not so long ago I had a weird dream where i could pretty much control anything, making a truck explode, make certain things, but after a while I started to be able to do less and less. In that dream and another, i could also pretty much teleport to where i wanted just by blinking at a particular spot. But im not sure if i was really CONSCIOUS of anything during those so I'm not sure what they are..
Yesterday night I was going to try just recalling my dreams but it didn't work out too well.. When i was almost asleep, i kept hearing tons of different totally unrelated voices (from voices from games to people i know) which i've read about somewhere in here. After that I was sort of falling in and out of sleep, not really sure what happened but i was half asleep half awake and it was like reality was mixed with the game World of Warcraft (which i played WAY too late that night ). So anyways, after a while i check my clock and see its 4 AM, I'd fallen asleep and woken up without realizing it but couldn't remember anything. I fell asleep again and didn't wake up until morning, the alarm didn't wake me up when it should have (I think my body's trained itself to ignore it somewhat since it's never woken me up lately and the alaram does work correctly), and didn't really remember anything.
Well thats about it for now, I think i should probably work on remembering my dreams before trying anything else. In fact, i'm off to go sleep right now. Good night everyone, even though you're proably sleeping already at this hour.

Have you read anything yet about dream signs and being able to recognize these signs while you are dreaming? One of my dream signs that has made me lucid a few times is when my car goes terribly out of control. I have numerous dreams where my car will suddenly swerve off a bridge and I will start to plummet to the ground...or I will lose control of my brakes and swerve off the road. Well now that I have realized this as a dream sign I am able to consciously be aware that when this happens in a dream I am able to stop and say that I am dreaming and therefore become lucid. I think that since you are having these recurring dreams about getting into car accidents you can use this as a dream sign. Think to yourself, that the next time your car goes out of control or you get into an accident, that you could be dreaming! And try to do a reality check...like sticking your finger through your palm, trying to read your watch, holding your nose closed and trying to breath...etc

By definition you are having a lucid dream if you KNOW that you are dreaming. The amount of control or the realness of it comes with time and practice. To me some of these experiences really sound like a lucid dream...but I also have to say that a lucid dream is an amazing thing and I think you would know for certain if you had one or not. Being fully conscious in your dream is not something you can easily forget or dismiss as another dream. Then again, if you have an LD in the middle of the night you may have sort of forgotten about it my the next morning. It's a shame you chose to wake up from that one dream instead of going back into it! Dream re-entry is great, especially when it is a good dream. ^_^

The sounds you heard sound very similar to hypnogogic sounds. There is information about them all over this site. Try to go a quick search about HS or hypnogogic sound and you will find alot of info. It's basically just hallucinations (auditory and visual) that occur before you enter a dream...you will usually experience these during a wake induced lucid dream, as you are conscious as you enter a dream.

My biggest suggestion to you is what you have already mentioned...work on that dream recall. Start a journal and begin to write down everything as soon as you wake up. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Heh, I always end up being the one providing the links, I guess my theme is pretty appropriate, eh?

Sorry 'bout that -- welcome to DreamViews, Wildman!

For dream recall, try the Dream Signs and Recall forum; and of course, nothing helps sharpen the dreaming senses than a dream journal, especially your very own, right here in ourDream Journal forum. Recently fine-tuned by the Ice-man himself, they are top notch.

Well, see you around, and good luck!
