      Greetings

Hello all! My alias is Kremnari. I've been lurking off and on for over a year. Every time I read a bit of information I keep thinking, "now I can do it," and still spend the night in a dark dreamless state. So I figured I'm tired of that and decided to post an intro.

I am 26 and have had only a few scattered lucid dreams, mostly just stumbled upon. I never heard of the practice until about 2002, but didn't think anything of it back then. About 4 years ago is when I started thinking I could use LDs to my advantage and began haphazardly and half-a**ed attempts to become lucid. Since then I've had a half dozen or so.

My biggest barrier, I think, is the fact that I work nights and have a split and erratic sleep schedule. My girlfriend also thinks that "my cup is full" when it comes to LDing. I agree, but that doesn't help me make it any emptier (got any clues?); I've acquired many different courses, and have the knowledge, but it's mostly unpracticed.

Sitting here writing this has helped me once again see the one thing that is contributing to my difficulties, not actually doing something constructive, but my question to others is, what would you do to become lucid while working at a night job?

      Thanks, and hello again!
      Kremnari

Hello Kremnari first off may I suggest emptying your cup if it's full. Also have you looked into sleep scheduling? Maybe you could try coupling various naps with the WILD technique, but that's only if you are really going to set full focus on lucid dreaming. If I was working a night job and wanted to lucid dream ( but I could only sleep when the sun was up) I would make sure the setting I sleep in would provide no interruption to my biological clock and my sleep patterns, I would also set a certain time frame I would get myself to bed so my body could adjust well and be comfy (set for sleep) around that certain set time, I also suggesting having a dream journal no matter how much detail you put into your dream journal it could come in handy. As for tutorials and pages that I think you should know about: http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/how-wi...82/#post857812 , http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/mzzkcs...4/#post1548569 , http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/mind-a...71/#post501197 , http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/why-you-fail-wilds-96892/

Most of the links are about the WILD, but they could be of some use to you I'm sure. I hope I helped in some way.

Yes, I agree with Nufeather in the fact that it might very well be your sleep schedule pooping on your dream recall. Over the last few days, my own dream recall hasn't been very good as I haven't been sleeping/waking up at an irregular time. Also, with each technique, how long do you keep at it before changing/giving up for a while? It's very important to keep consistent at a technique to get good at it. Other than keeping consistent at a technique, you might get an odd lucid dream once and a while, but it won't improve your skills by that much (in my opinion).
Whatever technique you're using, it's important to keep a positive attitude about them, believe in the technique and believe in yourself. Now for some questions; do you do reality checks? How often/when do you reality check? What is your main technique? Do you keep a dream journal?

Get some confidence! You gotta be confident and believe you're a pro lucid dreamer! Like the others said, the sleep schedule can be a hinderence but it could also be a benefit. If you get short periods of sleep, like naps, that could be helpful. A lot of people change their schedule to weird things like that, and I've heard the dreaming is great. Just start doing reality checks, using a dream journal, and being confident good luck!
