      A Newbie's Questions

Hello all, I've heard of Lucid Dreaming before but only now have I begun to practice dream recall and have made adjustments in my life to facilitate lucid dreaming. However I have a few questions.

      - Going to sleep is really hard for me as I cant seem to predict when Im going to fall asleep. I can feel tired and lay down, and repeat to myself over and over that I will "Remember my dreams and be able to write them down in the morning." The only problem with this is I end up not being able to fall asleep right away.

Last night I repeated that phrase for an hour and a half total and after that I dont remember what happened. Do you guys know any easy ways to fall alseep?

      - I've stopped smoking MJ because I have read that it supresses REM Sleep, is this true? If the High has already worn off will it still supress REM Sleep? If the high is worn off will it still supress Dream Recall?

      -edit-

      - Also, Ive heard of something called Dream Rebound, which after a long time of smoking MJ or using other drugs ones dreams will become more frequent, more intense, and longer, due to the lack of REM Sleep due to the supression and the supressed Dream Recall. Is there any substance to this?

Well, I don't smoke, but I do take anti-anxiety meds, & yes, they can have an effect on you....
Also, it seems that you could be suffering Insomnia...if that is the case, try WILDing (if your body falls asleep while you remain conscious, it usually helps relax your mind!)
      BTW, welcome to the Forum!

Welcome to dreamviews Ramaloke, it seems your following the right steps by writing your dreams down as you wake up. Your saying that its difficult to fall asleep, i think you should try to breathe and relax... I myself try to concentrate on my breathing for a couple of minutes or sometimes even 30 seconds. Yes it is good to repeat again and again that you will remember your dream, but sometimes it can keep you up! I went through the same, i sugguest you give it more time also... Most people tend to rush into lucid dreaming rather than giving it time, I myslef did the same. About the ganja... I had my first lucid dream in a long time the same day i had smoked... I apoligize that i cannot refer you to any facts about it but all i know is that it doesnt really bother my recall. But if you want to get techincal i smoke maybe 3 times a week. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the situation either. I'll search around for some facts for ya, and myself also ... For the most part i think you can find some comments on that topic here on dream views i've seen it many times. :-D
