This is to introduce myself as a newcomer.

I have lived in Hawaii since I got my discharge from the Air Force long ago. I used to be a newspaper reporter and travel writer, but I started writing fiction in 1990. Three published books so far, two novels and a short story collection. Last year I won a first-place award from the Society of Professional Journalists for my Honolulu Magazine article about five fishermen who vanished in a storm at sea.

I have traveled over half the world and one of my favorite places was Australia where the aborignee culture has a mythology and religion based on dreaming (the so-called Dream Time). This was particularly interesting to me because I have always been interested in dreams and I majored in anthropology in college.

I have also studied the meaning of dreams in the native Hawaiian culture. I have lived on three different islands -- remote rainforest communities on Maui and the Big Island and twice in Honolulu, where my present home is. When I'm not writing, I freelance in web design and software programming.

My outdoor hobbies are rainforest hiking and snorkeling/spearfishing. I enjoy reading, watching old movies on cable TV, the internet and writing.

If anyone has questions about Hawaii or Polynesian culture, I would be happy to answer them.
