      Hola Amigos

Hello!! Just registered on your forums today, awesome work guys! and girls?.. lol .. anyway

Ehh A little about myself: I love cats. Cats rock. Cats are the master of all things good. nice emoticon

I find interest in things like lucid dreams, astral projection (voyage) ... and all kinds of weird urban legends and such. Yeah, I'm your average computer nerd/weirdo Actually, I wasn't that interested in Lucid Dreams 'till I found your site, a while back. I had no idea what they were, though I could go Lucid (one might say? I'm not quite sure what you would call it) almost my entire life. Almost meaning as long as I can remember.

It's an intriging thing (my spelling, pardon it ), Lucid Dreaming is, and I wish you all luck on it and hope that eventually you all get to try it some time

      Welcome catlover!

I love cats too - I have 2 of my own, one just passed away under dodgy circumstances
As you can see I love a lot of critters though, including bearded dragons (australian lizards)

The nice thing about lucid dreams is that it's for real and established science (to some extent anyway), unlike other dodgier subjects like the paranormal (eg. AP)
Until only recently lucid dreaming was as taboo as astral projection, but it seems the line has moved (thankfully)

Enjoy the site, hope you have fun here

Hehe, I've got 30ish cats. So it sort of doesn't matter if they die. I know, I know, it sounds cruel.. but it's true. Oh so true! LOL

Yeah, I hear yeh about the AP thing. It is a rather dodgy subject. Personally, I'd never try it. Sort of freaky if you read in depth about it. It is an interesting read though. But that is nice to know, that Lucid Dreaming is actually established science, so that way you can have a conversation with people and they won't think you're out of your mind heh, as if they don't already. Computer nerds united! Woooo. heh... sorry... caffeine... heh

Actually I have had conversations with people who question the whole lucid dream thing and don't believe me when I tell them that it's been experimented on and has solid evidence, etc etc

I guess some nuts are hard to crack

I find i f i talk to a 'non lucid dreaming' friend, they tend to look at me as if i'm a little crazy...
they're like, 'what's the point in remembering your dreams? they are just dreams'
My argument is that if they were only dreams, then why would our brain waste time in drumming them up night after night?
I'm sure they serve some kind of purpose, and some dreams i've had have really helped me out in some of the more difficult phases of my life.
I had cats when i was younger, but i prefer dogs.
By the way, welcome to the board! it's a great place, and all the people are really nice.
Come into the Chat sometime, and we'll all know your name in like, a week!

      Welcome to the forum catlover.

I saw ya in the chatroom before.heh.

I'm not a catlover, but I still live with 2 of them anyway.

one of them insists on swimming in the dishwasher down where the water is.

Didn't know cats like water. It also enjoys jumping in the sink or anything where there is water.

maybe it would enjoy having a good wash in the washing machine.
and the other one can stay outside while I eat my breakfast.

      what do you think.......

I hate it when they go
meow.....meow meowee meow ooo. meow meowww. like they are talking.
      shut up you moggy cats!

Hello! I should give some information about myself but I'm proud to say I don't like to talk about myself too much, I only give personal info when people ask and even then I am picky about what I share. Two facts though (well kind of three) my name is not Mitzie, I am not 31, and I was not born in 1931.
The first lucid dream I remember having was a few years ago, I vaguely remember being on a bus and thinking "this is a dream", I then pinched myself and it must have hurt because I said "ouch", then "Yup, I'm dreaming" when I saw the bus driver was driving from the back, I then continued with the bus journey, woke up to my cat sleeping on my face and thought "am I still dreaming?".
I recently had a dream about lucid dreaming. I was talking to myself about it. Then at some point I realized it was a dream, which was beginning to fade, and I remembered, in my dream, reading something about "dream spinning" so I tried it and I am still not sure if it worked all I know is I woke up the next morning feeling slightly dizzy and ended up falling out of my bed and bashing my head into the bedside table. This resulted in me taking the Saturday off from a booked driving lesson and staying home to nurse my aching head. At least I saved the £18 from the lesson.

      hiya, welcome to DV.
With regards the dream spinning...apparently you're supposed to spin round, and then when you stop spinning, the dream is supposed to have stabilised, in order for you to carry on what ever it was you were doing...
In your case, it sounds like you lost lucidity somewhere and woke up...
It's not a technique i've ever been able to try yet...

I am not sure if I did lose lucidity or not, I may have just forgotten the dream which was already dim enough. I tend to have very good dream recall, I generally remember at least one dream a night, though sometimes I remember several dream subjects but my brain forms them into one mangled dream. You know, like when you are chasing a little white rabbit with a top hat and cane and you end up in a room with a bunch of doors and the rabbit seems to have disappeared... Also, when I dream I seem to go back and forth from first person to third person view. When I am watching the dream from a third person point-of-view I am always standing next to or behind myself. I remember the spinning thing and vaguely going back and forth from the two views.

well, sounds like you've achieved something with the spinning...i think what you have to try and do next is try to remember that after you've spun, the dreamscape will be stable again, and you can carry on doing whatever it was you were doing...i've heard some people use it to change location.
And i know what you mean about the white rabbit...same thing happened to me last night, loads of different images that i can't make any sense of, most of which are very hazy, and not really remembered at all...

hmmm...that's an intersting though...although regarding animals and lucid dreaming, i'd have to say no...because surely they would have to have the power of reason, of discernment?
as in, knowing what's real and what's a dream?
A dog doesn't think about tomorrow. It thinks only so far as it's next meal...most animals are instinctual, it's about routines and rythms.
Ever noticed that if you pick your house keys up, your dog might run to the front door?
that's because, over time, the dog has learned to associate the sound of your keys being picked up with going for a walk, or out in the car.
      This is just an example.
I could be talking rot...but if this conversation carries on like this, the mods'll be moving it to Extended Discussion...

Oh but I think cats can lucid dream. hah, now you people are going to think I'm nuts. Sometimes my cat's will go to sleept and they'll start twitching and all. And believe it or not, they sleepwalk. I think that if they can dream, they most certainly can lucid dream.

Yeah, they definitely DREAM... but whether they can pull consciousness into it? I don't personally think so. But then who knows

i definetely agree with the dreaming part...but not the bit about consciousness...cos to be conscious you are dreaming, you have to have the power of reasoning, in order to be able to tell the difference between waking and sleeping.
I'm not sure animals can do this...i mean, they only sleep to conserve energy for when it's time to go hunting.
Which is all to do with their base instincts

Dolphins are a better question, because they have been shown to have a decent level of self awareness with the mirror test.
Cats seem to be very hit and miss with that - not to mention hard to tell.

However it's a bit pointless asking questions we have no way of answering

Don't u know dolphins never sleep with their whole brain? They alternate left and right hemisphere, so a half of their consciousness is awake for going up and taking breath!!! They sleep with one half of the brain at a time and with one eye closed! If they fall into an entire sleep they could easily easily drown!

      So they maybe LD always..
