Why do my Lucids seem slightly second person.

As if I'm overviewing it all. Is this a control problem.

Uhh, could you elaborate a bit? I mean, are you saying that you feel like in your dreams you are watching more than actually participating?

And welcome to Dream Views by the way!!!

      Well, that answers that question.

People were wondering whether one could even BE Lucid outside of the First Person Perspective.

Now that you mention it though, I have heard of some Yogins and Martial Artists who were able to develop a perception through some kind of Over Self, quite literally an 'Over' Self, as it would be a kind of secondary perception from up above. They would have an ordinary First Person Experience and at the same time be looking down upon themselves.

One can see how useful this could be in the Martial Arts. It would be difficult to sneek up on such a person. The Utility for the Meditator and the Yogin is more theoretical and metaphysical. Here, the looking down from above emphasizes a greater mode of detachment from the body and all things physical. Where it is easy enough for the First Person Perspective to become involved in lust or anger, the Over Self perspective is likely to be more impartial, more cerebral.

So, since it is a state that other people have worked hard to attain, perhaps you should be not too quick to treat the condition as pathological. If it does not hinder your Lucidity, then let it ride until you know better whether or not it can offer a useful viewpoint.

Well yes, I see the advantage. But it does distract from having a 'fully blown' experience. I mean always being slighty aloof about the whole thing kind of plays it down a little. It's like knowing in your heart of hearts that it's all just an illusion of sorts.

Yes, one has to give up much of life's Drama in exchange for that ViewPoint of total aloof dispassion and non-attachment. But in exchange for the Drama, one becomes Wiser and more Objective.

Everything is a Blessing and Curse. almost any advancement requires some sacrifice.
