Greetings (with account of last lucid dream)!

Hello. I came across this site after finding a link on someone's dream journal. I have been into Lucid Dreaming for the past three years after having my interested piqued by Richard Linklater's 'Waking Life and reading a rather amateurish book on ''How to control your dreams in 30 days!''. It wasn't until I started keeping a dream journal that the dreams became more in depth and I was able to finally wake up within the dream, however temporary that may have been. Unfortunately for the past year I have stopped having LD due to moving to a different province and other things that affected my life. Lately though I find the desire to go back to those experiences I had a year ago where I could wake up and write several pages worth of memories of the night's dream. This looks like a really great place with a diverse amount of people who have experience to boot.

I also experience night terrors on the astral plane.

Oh yes, and here is a description of the last Lucid Dream I ever had.

So I had a lucid dream last night that was probably provoked by my mother coming to the city to visit. Ironically the whole thing started off as a nightmare, but I'm happy with the turnout.

The dream starts off with my sister and I walking in the alleyway behind my apartment off to see a movie. As we're walking I notice that there's this really unkempt man in a tattered suit following us. I try not to pay attention and keep walking. Almost out of the alley, there's a wooden fence to my left with a box of random crap in it. I look in it and pull out a baseball; the crazy man behind me says, "Hey! Throw me that!". However, when I throw him the object I failed to notice that it wasn't a baseball, but instead, a mushy apple which hits the guy square in the face. He gets mad. My sister and I look at each other and realize that if we don't run we're in for a serious beating. So we take a left on my street and head towards my apartment entrance. Just as we do so I glance over my shoulder and notice the man charging at us, full speed, with saliva raining out of his mouth. There was a total Hollywood movie moment with me trying to fumble for my keys in time before he catches up to us. We make it just in time and head up a flight of stairs towards my apartment door. But damn, wouldn't you know it, someone enters the entrance we just made it through, allowing the psycho to get in the apartment building. Once again, I nervously place the key in my apartment door and my sister and I get in just in time, locking the door behind us as the man pounds on the door for several minutes. I go into the living room where my roommate and mother happen to be sitting on the couch. I tell them about the man just outside our door and they say to me "Well we don't hear anybody". So I become relieved, walk over to the door that has ceased pounding, and drop onto the floor so I can look through the crack between the floor and the door. The bastard is still there, waiting and waiting.

I go back to the living room and somehow my dad's cousin and her daughter are there, talking about home decorating techniques (this has truly become my nightmare) and I pick up the phone to dial the police. I do so and they don't believe me, but it isn't until I go into hysterics, swearing at them for being so ignorant and unjust that the operator says,

"Ok, well maybe we'll send somebody in a couple of hours."
"Listen to me asshole, he's out there right now so you better get over here soon before you have a murder scene to deal with!" I reply

      She hangs up.

So at this point I'm freaking out and consider the situation hopeless when I have the great idea to call my landlord who is this enormous brickhouse of a man. Unfortunately I have no luck as his number has gone missing. So I go back to the door to try and plead with the man, but the strangest thing happened: he left! I am so relieved and open the door and there's this crowd of people who happen to all be black looking for someone named Adam.

"Oh no. He doesn't live here anymore," I say.

Well now the cops do show up and start arresting all these black people without rhyme or reason and I start freaking out as I see the whole thing as a racially motivated action.

I start crying and run straight through my apartment and onto the balcony. My mom follows me and tells me to tell her the whole story from the beginning.

"Well Paige and I were walking out in the alleyway when this guy start-"
"Paige? Paige is in Victoria remember."

Then something wonderful dawns on me.

"Yes, you're right. Paige is in Victoria and you have just came out to visit meaning the whole situation in the alleyway didn't really occur because she isn't here, meaning...that this is a dream! Isn't it."

My mother doesn't reply but instead smiles.

I become estatic and try to stay really focused on my surroundings and I'm amazed by the clarity with which I can see things. The sky outside looks incredibly beautiful and pink clouds move around like specters. I strip to my boxers and begin doing back flips from the walls. I pick up a keyboard and start playing a joyful song that is supposed to communicate my happiness of the situation. Unfortunately I get too wrapped up in this and the dream starts fading out; I try spinning around and around but it didn't quite work. I wake up.
      Renewed, it fought
As if it had a cause to live for
      Denied, it learned
As if it had sooner been destroyed
Providing, deciding, it was soon there
Squared to it, faced to it, it was not there

      Welcome to the forum!
BTW, you should really start a Dream Journal (you can in the DJ section). That way, you can write all of your dreams in there!

Seenoevil, welcome to DV. Your dream reminded me of one I had a coupla weeks ago.
You mentioned how clear and vivid everything was, and I know what you mean. In my dream I woke up in confusion as if I had been drinking. Several things seemed odd so I decided to pay extra close attention to everything around me to see if ANYTHING seemed out of place. Everything was soooo real. I even listened to a song playing outside the window of the apartment I was in where a party was still going on around the cars in the street. I listened to the words and the beat actually conciously trying to find something odd about it to confirm I was dreaming. This did not work as a reality check. I think I'll actually ask about this on a different thread. Thanks and welcome again.
