      Hello!

Ever since I heard about the idea of lucid dreaming, I've been hooked. About a month ago, I started writing my dream journal, did reality checks, etc.
During the past week, I have gotten lucid about twice, however, that is where the problem is. Whenever I become lucid, my dream immediately fades away into blackness. I still stay asleep, but I can't control my dream and make it become what I want it to be. Any tips?

      Welcome!
It is great you are enthusiastic about LDing. Your LDs will become better and more frequent if you keep your motivation and effort.
I have the same problem as you have sometimes, it happened to me today again. It happens to me when I become lucid too early in the night. Only LDs from last 2 hours of sleep use to be enjoyable for me usually. If you practice WBTB, you will increase your chance for LDs in this time greatly. You should stabilize immediately when you become lucid and stay calm. If you can see things, you should examine and touch them etc. Try to use as much senses as you can. If you cannot see anything, just rub your hands together and remind yourself, that the next scene will be a dream. Remember that even a short and bad LD is a success and great step forward to having great LDs in future.
      Happy dreams .

A great start getting lucid in your first month.
Dreams fade less often if you remain calm' when you realize that your dreaming. Eventually you adjust to having focus in a dream and it will remain clear.
