      Greetings folk of lucid dreams

Hello everyone, I cant wait to become fully acquainted with the likes of such interesting folk. So far the real world is full of dicks, pussies, and assholes (joke from team america: world police). Maybe I can meet real people in a fake world (internet). Its a stretch. Last night I read this site in full hoping to attain lucidity and eventual control over my dreams. Amazingly I had such an experience last this morning after waking up and going back to sleep. I was driving home in my car. I was on my road when my lights went out for some reason. I turned my lights back on and realized that I should be in my bed sleeping not driving home from a friends house. At first this stumped me for a few seconds, then I realized I was dreaming. Surprise came over me. Then my lights went out again. I was still driving on my road and things got extremely scary. I was so scared I foregot how much I wanted a lucid dream and I guess I bailed out. Next thing I know I was awake realizing my mistake. Yet I am hoping that some will give me advice with this. I think that fear will plague my dream once I become lucid and I will want to bail out. Maybe I wasnt even fully lucid and that is why fear and panic came over like that. Normally I am a pretty logical person so I dont understand why I become so fearful during realization of dreaming? Can anyone help me?

Once you realize you are dreaming, the best thing to do is relax, b/c nothing can happen to you in real life (even if you crashed & died in the dream, you'd be okay in real life)

I think maybe you're right. If you are truly, fully lucid, then you should not be scared because you know that it's only a dream, and that nothing can hurt you.

actually as bad as it sounds this happens to me even when fully lucid, fear suddenly overcomes me which never happens in real life... its like I come to the realization that in a dream logical thinking cant work, I cant say, "there’s not going to be a monster because monsters absolutely cant exist on this planet" because in your dreams anything and every "can exist" and this makes me horribly afraid considering that I still cant but barely fly in dreams.
~I wake up a little more every time I dream.

Some of my dreams have been almost more "real" feeling than reality itself. So I'm pretty sure if I were to meet with my fears (aliens. definately aliens ) in those dreams I would totally freak out and wake up.

I guess the only advice I can offer is to confront your fears. In a lower level lucid dream it might not be possible (you'd probably just wake up). But when you are in complete control, I'd say to face the fears head on. In the case of your posted dream, that would probably involve driving the car through the dark. In "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" it tells a lot of stories about people who confronted their nightmares. Pretty cool results too. Good luck with achieving higher lucidity and confronting fears in your dream!
