Did I have a lucid dream?

I was wondering, is it possible to dream and be thinking "yeah Im having a lucid dream" But you are not actually lucid?

Last night I dreamt I was at school, I was holding a soccer ball. Then it just vanished. I thought "What the hell? That makes no sense. Maybe im having a lucid dream". I tried to fly. I couldnt, but I could kinda drift, so I figured It wasnt real life. I wanted to jump off the roof, but I wasnt sure if it was actually a dream, so I didnt want to take the risk.

For some reason though, I never actually thought "Ok, Im in bed asleep". I just told myself I was in a lucid dream and tried to fly.
Im not sure If I was actually in an LD, of just dreaming I was.

      Any opinions would be appreciated.

There are different degrees of lucidity. You were probally more lucid than normal

Yes, you were Lucid. In fact it was a very useful Lucid Dream. You went about executing elements of a Lucid Dream Checklist. You practiced the rudiments of Dream Flying. So, we have it that you realized that you were Lucid Dreaming, and then we have it that you began to try out practices that you wanted to attempt during Lucid Dreaming. You can't get better than that! and in each subsequent Lucid Dream, you will achieve ever more accomplished levels of expertise. Now, what you can do is focus on your Lucid Dream Checklists. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO the next time you go lucid. Many people focus all of their suggestion on Reality Checks so that they can become Lucid, and then don't know what to do when it happens. It is like meeting the Jin from the Magic Lamp and not knowing what to ask for. Memorizing and going over your Lucid Dream Checklist some 20 times a day is certainly enough suggestion to assure having a Lucid Dream with the advantage of giving you a Plan so that the Lucid Dreams do not go to waste.

      Thanks for that.
I wish I had though to do more fun stuff, like punch people I dislike, be in a wrestling match and that kinda stuff. Oh well, I will hopefully have another LD one day soon.

That doesn't really have anything to do with judging whether someone was having a lucid dream or not. The only thing you need to question, is whether you actually knew you was only dreaming or not. If you're aware of the fact that you're just dreaming, then it's a lucid dream. Otherwise it's just a normal dream.

Remember that lucid dream doesn't necessarily mean dream control or other 'bonuses', but it's something that often comes with the awareness of the situation. Besides sometimes you can have dreams where you seem to have control over your dream but don't know that you're dreaming and therefore not lucid dreaming.
Don't think about those damn kangaroos.

UUUUUU, Be Careful! Remember, Dream Control is not Absolute. Your Higher Dream Mind may have some tricks up its sleeve. I'll tell you a bit of a story to illustrate my point -- I used to have as my Lucid Dream Checklist first to walk out of ordinary dream scenes and levitate off to new and better Dream Scenes. Well, on one occassion, some Dream Characters followed me out of the room. Instead of being polite and asking to be excused, I struck one Dream Character, an old friend whom I certainly should not have attacked, and WHAM! He hit back. Taught me a lesson. Gratuitous Violence is not smiled upon. Unavoidable conflict may be brought to you, but if you go looking for trouble, you may find more than you will appreciate dealing with.
