      Changing gender?

Hey guys. Yeah I'm new. This is odd having this as my first post here, but I've been trying to LD for a couple nights now. I was wondering if it were possible to change your gender in an LD and if so, how easy is it? Also, I know it depends on the particular dream, but I was wondering if the transformation were vivid at all? Please reply, this has been a fantasy of mine for a while. Thanks.

From what I know about it, it would take awhile to gain that kind of control. I also know that the senses and sensations you feel are based on stuff you've experienced, or you made it up completely. So, how vivid it is depends on your experience with the anatomy and how you think it will feel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

yep, been there done that it wasn't a lucid dream though, just a normal dream. it just happened early one morning.

as for how realistic was it? who knows... how could you know? but i certainly did believe it at the time.

I did it too, in a non lucid dream, one minute i was a woman, next thing i know ,i'm in New York and i'm a bloke!
It was kinda weird to look at myself and go 'wtf?! since when am i a bloke?!'
      should have spotted that...

Hi reckless! Welcome to the forum.

I have been another gender before as well. But strangly enough I became lucid as I was already the other sex. So I did not do it on my own accord. However it was a fantastic dream and I really felt like I learned from it.
But as far as attaining this....... believing is the key to anything you do in your lucid dreams. Only you set the limits, your own mind.

Ok cool, so it definitely is possible. But yeah the only thing is the feelings would be based upon my own imagination, not on what it actually feels like. I guess I'll still have to work on LDing even more, I'm still a beginner.

I have done that a few times, too, but I just enjoy being a creature or playing Nintendo more!
      Welcome to the forum, BTW.

Hey reckless, welcome to Dream Views

I've had a few gender bending lucids myself, but what happened in mine was, I was already having a non lucid dream about being male to begin with. Then that's what made me become lucid. So I never had to actually 'make' myself change gender. But when I was a guy, it was very very vivid for me. I was able to have sex, but in the last one I had, I lost my erection, heh. I just found it very difficult to control me, my partner, AND maintain an erection. Go figure.

Oh well, good luck with yours

Heh, that's funny. Day-/night- dreams are often hard to control in odd ways. I have a lot of trouble making my point of view spin around as if I were doing a summersault. It always tends to go to the side.

What isn't possible in a lucid dream?

What it actually feels like.... who knows... maybe your feelings and perceptions will be more authentic then you think =]...

      I say this because...

      one example:
Prominent psychiatrist, Stanislav Grof, in the 1950s investigated the clinical uses of LSD...
what was astounding is that while patients were under the influence of acid, some would describe how it felt to be in their mother's womb, with nuancesand accuracy about the experience that were far beyond their education level. One of his female patients took the persona of a female prehistoric reptile and later a zoologist confirmed that feelings and processes she described to the animal. Others could tap into racial and collective memories, providing accurate accounts of the embalming process in Ancient Egypt or undergoing initiation rights of Australian Aboriginals...

I do think it's possible to tap into things that you cannot dream of experiencing in real life while in the lucid dream state. I don't think linking into the collective subconscious (I am a big fan of Carl Jung) is contingent solely upon psychedelics.

in a lucid dream from last month, I was connected to this Japanese actress. kind of like that 'cat-dog' show on nickelodeon. then I tried to have sex with her... but then my dream turned into geometric shapes until finally fading out.

      I was once a women in a man's body but now i am a man in a women's body....

An interesting book you should check out about the interaction of

      Changing Gender[/b]
      is 'Orlando' by Virginia Woolf.

The movie directed by Sally Potter is excellent, very interesting and thought provoking - the main actress is superb as the main character:-

"Same person. No difference at all... just a different sex."

"I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you".
