      Cheesy Nightmares.

Everyone must have heard the "Old Wives tale" that cheese can give one Nightmares, but are there any foodstuffs that actually promote dreaming. I have heard that certain substances like Melatonin can increase the vividness of dreams but I would prefer to go with more "Natural Food " ingredients. Any advice. (Ps. Don't say Cheezwhiz or Red Cap Mushrooms). I was thinking more along the lines of "Herbal remedies" etc

Is Melatonin strictly for the "elderly" who are having trouble sleeping. I would not want to put myself in any danger.

      Combined your posts.

B6 tends to work to help dreaming. Also, melatonin is for anybody. It is a natural neurotransmitter that your body produces. I've taken it before.

Valerian does the trick (for me).

I took some with B6 and thaught it was the B6 doing the work, but I took some itself and I got very vivid dreams.

I suppose the more vivid your dreams are the easier it is to DILD/WILD

It's probably just me but eating nothing 4-5 hours before sleep always helps(ed) with dreams.

It's generally best to eat very little right before one goes to bed. If one must, I reccomend fruits, yogurt, warm milk, et cetera -- something light. When you are digesting food in the middle of the night, more brainpower is spent running the digestive system, and one is less likely to produce a lucid dream.

But if you're into aroma therapy type things, lavender oil is VERY good at making people drowsy. If you want to fall asleep during class, just rub lavender around your nostrils. Nice, deep sleep. It also is useful if during a particularly difficult lucid dream (the sort where you wake up more tired than when you went to bed), I find it useful to use lavender to relax and rest.

The alternative, I suppose, is coffee, which basically serves to cut you off from your weariness and does NOT let you rest. (That is, on most people. I personally find that caffine makes my hyper-focus.)
It is important that we do not judge these few unbiased moments of our lives, but take them as they are. There is no nightmare for the lucid dreamer, nor no shadows on the mind.

I often take Melatonin when i can't sleep, i'm 16...so i'm not old....but when i take it, it ruins my lucidity hhhhmmm that word sounds weird...anyhow...i don't dream @ all. I go 2 sleep & stay in a deep sleep 'till morning. It is often one of those wake ups where i feel like i slept for 1 minute but feel really refreshed.
The purpose of Melatonin is to help one who has trouble sleeping do just that...sleep...not to have more vivid dreams. Although i'm sure it does work for some people...but not for me!

for me if i eat really hot or spicy food before i go to sleep, it almost always gives me a nightmare..or two really different foods, like a bowl of ice cream and then a couple dill pickles. i've actually been pondering using that as a dreamsign, because its pretty much a sure thing that if i eat something odd or spicy, i'll have a nightmare, so i was thinkking of eating something like that, and then getting in bed and before going to sleep, repeating to myself that when the dream gets scary, i will realize its a dream. havent put it into practice yet tho.

Ya' know i wish i could tell u what 2 use, i do know herbs works really well. we have a lot of different kinds, when i take them it often clears my head making me tired so when i sleep the possiblities are endless in my dream because my mind isn't stressing over anything.

Vitamin B-6. Get it and get it now, lol.

It doesnt harm you at all and it doesnt have any side effects. It makes your mind slighty more alert while in a subconsciouss state producing the effec of more 'vivid' dreams and with that a more likely chance of detecting a dream state.

It can be picked up cheap from a health store (usually not pharmacies, try herbal remedies stores)

If you decide to get some drop me a PM because i have several tips on how and when to use it, having experimented with it a lot myself.

      Damn!!!
That's why I can't get any LDs. I always eat A LOT right before I go to bed. Usually, a big bowl of oatmeal, an arepa with a lot of cheese, a big cup of hot chocolate and some tea.

You are very against the United States. Not everyone here is totally ignorant. Id say you will find the same percentage of idiots and geniuses here as you would find in most countries. Keep in mind that on about every decision, half of the population is for it, and half is against it... that is one very overlooked fact. Though i must say that we are probably going to be the new France... so spoiled.

As for eating things before you go to sleep… hell I’m pretty sure that you will have 100% lucid dreams if you eat a banana with peanuts pushed through the sides. If you drink prune juice after, you should get enough vitamins to fly as well.
