      Hi everyone :)

Hi, my name is Mila and I joined this forum today. Thank you for the welcome. I read the information on the website about a week ago and I think I already experienced lucid dreaming, unfortunately for no more that a minute.
Several days ago I started writing everything I could remember in a dream journal and started looking for repeating dream signs. I noticed that people and objects often suddenly transform into something else (of course, I didn't notice this during the dreams). I also noticed that people appear in places they are not supposed to be. This night I dreamed that I was in school, and I saw a friend of mine who is from Germany and has never visited me here. After talking to him for some time, I realized that he couldn't be there and that I might be dreaming. I tried to perform a reality check by looking at my watch, but it showed the same time both times I looked (This was probably because I have performed some reality checks while awake, and the time has always been the same, so I was used to see the same time when looking at the clock and this was what I expected to see). However, I still though that I was dreaming. Then I decided that if I was dreaming, I would be able to control the world around me. I looked at a cup and though that if I was dreaming, I would be able to lift it. I concentrated on making the cup lift and it did! I was so exited that I immediately woke up.

Can you give me some tips on not waking up when you find out that you are dreaming?

I still haven't tried WILD, I read about it today, and I may try soon.

Hey there, and welcome to the forum!

It's great that you have already had such progress in such a short amount of time, congratulations on your lucid dream. I'm glad that you took the time to read through everything and begin your dream journal and reality checks...well done!

I think that you might try to do a different reality check since that one doesn't seem to work very well for you. Try to stick your finger through your palm...or hold your nose shut and try to breathe in through it. There are alot of different ones you can try, you just have to find the right one that works for you. It's great that you didn't let your mind trick you into thinking you weren't dreaming even after your RC passed.

Once you become lucid try doing something like using verbal commands to keep yourself from getting too excited and waking up. Say..."increase lucidity now" or look directly at your hands and say "stabilize lucidity". Whenever I am lucid and I look at my hands it helps to increase the clarity of the dream and make it last longer. I think that stopping to do something simple like this keeps you from getting too excited and waking yourself up.

Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask

This night when I thought I was dreaming I tried the RC with the palm and finger and it worked perfectly. Thank you for the advice! It is easier and simpler than the time check and it seems it works better for me. When I did this the images around me started to fade, but I tried the looking at the hands you recommended and it helped. Unfortunately, it lasted only several minutes. I was albe to walk around, open and close some doors, and than tried to gain control of the dream. I was standing in my room and tried to transform it into a forest, but I woke up. Probably I should have tried with something simpler. Nevertheless, it was much longer and much clearer than my first lucid dream and I think I'm making progress. I'll keep on trying; thank you once again for the useful suggestions.

You know, you should really keep a DJ, so that you can keep track of all of your LDs!
