      Smile Hi!

      Hi all!

Let me begin by saying i found this forum while googling about lucid dreaming, and have been reading up on the boards for the last couple of hours. I thought i might aswell say hi

I've been intrested in lucid dreaming ever since i experienced my first one not too long ago, this was a few months back. I have had more since then, but still trying to get full control over it.
The most recent ones i have tend to be very short. Whenever i realize i am dreaming i get too excited and wake up, not being able to fully discover my abilities or do the things i like.
Just this week i fell asleep while watching tv, i was really focused on my series and struggling to stay awake when all of a sudden i was walking outside. It didn't really feel strange at first, untill i had a dejavu and i was like wait.. what?? From that moment on, i started looking for things that didn't make sense and finally got to the point that i realized i was dreaming. Then offcourse, excitement struck and the ground started shaking and gravity went all crazy (i was in mid air) untill i calmed myself down and said to myself "just relax it's a dream".
      Then i wake up.

It seems as if whenever i fall asleep when watching tv, my experiences are more extreme. Is this because my mind is still very active at that point?

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience so far I hope to grow in understanding lucidity some more and i will keep reading these boards!

      nice work keep it up!

A simple little trick I used to use a lot when I felt that I was waking up too early was to touch something inside the dream, like the ground for example, and really feel the texture, weight, etc. This helps bond your connection to the dream world.

I also used to hang onto something, this one worked great! a nice little way of telling your mind to 'hang onto the dream' Often I found when using this method, if I did wake up, using WILD was very very easy to enter the dream world again.

      Happy Dreaming!

Hi there, welcome to DV. You can try stabilizing your dream to ground you into it, and prevent premature awakening. As the prevus poster said, the best ones involve engaging your senses in the dream. Touch objects, smell things, taste them even! Just anything that helps you anchor yourself into the dreamworld.

I don't really know, perhaps it's also because when you fall asleep while watching tv, you were just very recently exposed to strong visual input and that could quickly affect the dreams you start having.

If you need anything else, feel free to ask, please

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Although the problem might be stabilization, and as such Paige already gave you excellent advice, remember that it's pretty normal that when you're beginning to lucid dream to only achieve lucidity in the last minutes of the dream. Sometimes it's just that: your sleep cycle coming to an end Perfect time to WBTB and try again!
