I'm here and ready to learn

Hi guys, my name is Sam aka Cushtard, and I am really excited about learning how to Lucid Dream, I am 17 years old and really into gaming. I found out about this site from the Dream Views Podcast and was captivated to join. I have not had my first Lucid Dream yet but I do hope that I will soon, I also really would like to apply to the academy.

Welcome, Sam. If you haven't already, you should have a glance at the various tutorials we have here. I recommend DILD, at least until you've got a few lucids. Remember to reality check, fill in your dream journal and, above all, have fun.

Welcome to DV, Sam! Just to give the other point of view: I would suggest trying both DILD and WILD, they are not mutually exclusive. While I think it is true that most beginners are more likely to be successful with DILD than WILD, but there are exceptions to this rule - different methods work for different people.

You can find out about the different induction methods here for example: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-methods-techniques/ or here http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/CategoryV-Tutorials

Aloha Sam! Welcome to DreamViews, where we all sit around and talk about things that people who don't care about dreams would call crazy. I hope to see you become active over these next couple of days and, who knows? Maybe you'll have your first lucid dream tonight or tomorrow night or the night after. Just remember to try not to get too frustrated, stressed, or excited. It's sabotage, I'm telling you. . . .

Following up on what the above two said, I'd say that you should try to DILD for about a month (unless you need to work on your dream recall first--I would say that you should remember at least two dreams per night and then if you don't have a lucid dream switch over to WILD. Most beginners have more success with DILDs than WILDs and there's a great chance that you are of the majority than not, but as Joanna said, there's a chance that you'll have more success if you WILD. Try not to get too overwhelmed with all of my jibber-jabber. ^_^
      ~ until the very end
