      Hello all!

I'm (obviously) new to this site, but not exactly lucid dreaming. My sister and mother have always been quite 'spiritual' as you can call it, you know tarot cards horoscopes, the whole nine yards. I love all of it, but have always felt like there was more. I've never really been a big dreamer, but when I do its normally something to do with what's going on around me or has happened. Other times its totally random with people I've never met or even seen, in places I had no idea existed.

I happen to be a 'horror-junkie', meaning I love a good fright, creepypastas, nightmares and all that. But what really got my attention in my dreams, is that I couldn't tell if it was real life, or a dream. But that is under the circumstances I am familiar with the place and the people. If however I have no clue who I'm with or where I am, I know I'm dreaming. After a while of reading up I found out that you can actually control your own dreams, so of course I got really excited about it all. After reading up on that topic I began my journey of sleeping more often, which lead to dreaming more often.

The first time I remember actually controlling my dreams was a few years back (I believe anyways, that's when I recall it happening) and it wasn't exactly a nightmare, but just a bizarre dream. As I stated before, I enjoy doing this, so I was extremely happy when I realized I controlled my own actions in the dream, and was totally conscious about what I was doing. Although I haven't exactly been able to control other things like other 'peoples' reactions/actions/movement/ or what they say.

I guess this is all I really have to say about my experience with lucid dreams, and I really love the idea of being able to conjure up something unimaginable, or something simple. So, I'm really glad I've finally joined a lucid dream site, and hope to be here for quite a while.

Welcome to DV, DancingShadow! Sounds like you are already well on your way, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I guess I don't have to tell you that one person's nightmare is another person's dream, and nightmares are indeed in the eyes of the beholder. Some of my most disturbing dreams have been among my favorites, although my least favorite are those that I call "nightmares after the fact" where I do not think that anything is wrong in the dream but after I wake up I am upset about them - do you ever have any of those? Those I find not fun. But yes, there are nightmares that actually are more cool dreams than nightmares really.

Personally, I am not sure that controlling other dream characters is a good idea. First of all I also am into dream interpretation, and would like to leave some room for my subconscious ideas to express themselves even in lucid dreams. But also I disagree with people who say that moral values do not apply in dreams. For example, if one manipulates other people in dreams isn't there a danger that one might be building a subconscious habit of manipulating others which might have repercussions in waking life? That's anyway my thinking when I am awake, alas during my latest successful lucid dream I had no memory of such high folutin' intensions, and I simply disintegrated a dream character because I thought I did not need him anymore. And to be honest I did not feel guilty about it because I was quite aware that he was completely not a real person. So I guess I contradict myself.

I look forward to interacting with you on the forum, DancingShadows!
You may say I'm a dreamer.
