It's a very common dream theme, though I've never heard of cars with tinted windows being the featured 'monsters'. Usually it's wild animals or dinosaurs or monsters of some kind roaming outside, and a sense of security in the house but you have to be outside for some reason and your family or a parent fails to notice the danger, or you see the danger through windows and doors but can't make anyone else take notice of it. Cars with tinted windows work just as well though, since they do hold a sense of menace.
Basically it represents the safety of the home and family, and the fact that there's a big scary dangerous world out there that they can't always protect you from. Your parent or family or what have you won't always be there to protect you, and in fact sometimes they won't even be aware you're in danger. It could be in reference to the fact that sometimes when you leave the house (or even in the house) you experience dangers that they can't understand or seem oblivious to. These dreams seem to be most common at about the age you're at now, give or take a few years, though I imagine it can happen at many points through childhood.
