Welcome to DV
If your parents do not believe that it is scientifically proven, perhaps you ought to refer them to the work of Stephen LaBerge PhD. It is in English so that might be a problem.
As for WILD, it's important to try and work out when your REM cycles begin and when they end. It takes the average person about 15-20 minutes to fall asleep, and your cycles usually last for about 90 minutes each. It's better to aim for the later cycles so waking up around 4 and a half to 6 hours into sleep, taking into account the time it takes for you to fall asleep.
As for fighting the urge to move, that is less important than being able to fall asleep. If you feel uncomfortable it's best to change position and hang onto your awareness while you fall asleep in the more comfortable position for you. It doesn't matter how awake your mind is if you can't actually enter sleep because you're uncomfortable
I'm personally not disciplined enough to rely on WILD every time I want a lucid dream so perhaps it's in your better interests, if you are like me, that you learn how to DILD and combine that with a WBTB.
