      some stuff

      Hello,

First i would like to ask what lucid dreaming is like. Can you really take full control over your dreams?

What i dont understand is the ability to be able to do things... like walking for example and being able to fly.

      Secondly,

When i was a small child i used to have nightmares alot, and i knew i was having them as i used to try to kill myself to get out of my dream (no joke). It worked as i would wake up.

I had done that numerous times, but not recently as i rarely get nightmares.

      Thanks.
      Dreamy Boy

      Welome to the forum sasquatch!

Lucid dreaming is KNOWING that you are dreaming, being aware that you are doing so, so that you can take FULL control over your dreams. Usually it takes most people a good time to take full control, and some don't like to take full control. You should look in the TUTORIAL forum, under the tutorial named 'The Basics' or something like that!
Also, if you need reading, we always reccommend this book:
Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge

About your statment on suicide in nightmares to get out of them, this is very common, many people have to do that to get out sometimes. But through lucidity, you can wake yourself up, because you know it is a dream, or you can just change the dream...'dreamscaping'.

Good luck on your endeavors, and keep us posted!

what is it that you do not understand? in lucid dreams, you have a dream body. it is exactly like...you are now, you can feel, see, hear...think about it. you will feel exactly like you do right now in front of your monitor, only with the freedom to do whatever you desire. don't worry...once you have your first lucid dream, you'll understand. it is definitely worth the effort.

and just like Lowercase said, definitely check out the book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge.

      welcome to DreamViews. ^_^

      Welcome to the Forum!

As for your first question, just search lucid dreaming on yahoo/google and you'll get tons of hits.

      Hi, welcome sasquatch

I got another question kind of expanding on sasquatch's - I know what lucid dreaming is, Ive had a few and Id say I know a fair bit about it but what I dont understand is we all say LD is when you are conscious in a dream but for me when I wake up from an LD it doesnt really feel that I was conscious if you know what I mean - It just feels like a memory. Its kind of hard to explain - I know that in the dream I was doing what I wanted - I chose to do so and so, but when I wake up it doesnt seem like that...? Maybe Ive just never been lucid enough..

then you werent lucid enough...perhaps your recall isnt good enough, making the experience seem distant...

ive had plenty of dreams where i sat there and thought to myself 'im dreaming' very much in the now...

Lynx, do you keep a dream journal? It helps so much with recall!

For me its less fuzzy then a normal dream but after a while thigns do start to fade, although there are several parts that I can recall that are perfectly clear, it is for me more that the timeline in which order the events happened that is not complete, it feels like some parts are missing/fuzzy.

I havent done for a while, Lowercase Society, but i am starting a new one now. Recalled LOADS of dreams last night!

I reckon its the lucidity and the recall CT, basically everything! the timelines not always complete in my nonlucid dreams which is just recall but in LDs i think its partly recall and a point in the dream where i partially or completely lost lucidity.
