Hey guys,
My name is Corey and I'm 20 years old. I'm a magician and I live in Rhode Island. I've always been fascinated by dreams, and I can remember my dreams vividly almost daily. Ever since I was young, I had this ability where if I was having a bad dream, I could tell myself (while dreaming) that I was just dreaming and immediately I would wake up. I always thought it was cool, but I never thought that I could really take it any further.
I kind of lost the ability for a while, but last week I was thinking about it, and then a few nights later I was having a crappy dream and I woke myself out of it. I finally decided today that I would do some research and see if I could find out about the technique that I was using and if there was anyone else out there doing it. I guess, and correct me if I'm wrong, that I was exhibiting the first stages of being able to have lucid dreams. I'm assuming that since I can already wake myself during dreams that it will be easier for me to actually gain control of my dreams. I'm really excited - I never knew that dream control was achievable.
And for all you other guys out there that are trying to experience this, it's really not hard! If you tell yourself that you can do it, than you can do it. It's hard to explain but, you just have to analyze your dream while you are having it and it's like this voice inside your head tells you that you are dreaming and bam! (Is this considered copyright infringement now? LOL) you are awake.
I don't know if it's my background in magic and illusions that helps me do this, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt. My question now is, to progress from being able to wake myself to being able to control my dreams, do I basically just have to tell myself in the dream that I can control it? I'm assuming that those who can lucid dream know that feeling that you get while dreaming, and understand my question here.
This topic is so fascinating to me. Most people I know can't even remember their dreams, and I remember at least one dream every night. I'm glad to be a part of this forum!
Thanks and take care,
Corey
