Is the the first part of an OBE?

      Hi everyone,
I'm sorry but this is going to be pretty long winded, I just want to give you the full picture. Ok, with my job I get to spend a lot of time on the computer when on nightshift so I often do a search on something I find of interest. 4 nights ago I was looking up stuff on ghosts which in turn led me to remote viewing and obe's, which I became instantly facinated with and seriouly wanting to try it out. One of the techniques of inducing obe's and the like is by the use of binaural beats in the theta range of 4Hz, which I have spent a lot of time looking into over the last few days but have not used or attempted anything. So that is my background.

I'm on nightshift at the moment and this morning I went to sleep at 9:30am. My room is almost completely dark and airconditioned. At 1pm I woke and went to the toilet then returned to bed. I then began having this dream which I seem to have a very good recollection of (maybe only because it is a topic I'm interested in, I don't know). Anyway I began dreaming about this guy who was into binaural beats and he had some with him at the time which he let me listen to. The first attempt didn't work as I was for some reason in an uncomfortable position, so he insisted on giving me $6 to purchase some more beats because apparently for some reason that's what they costed. He then left and I was on my own. I made myself comfortable, put on the headphones then started listening to the strange sounds. Now at this point it is where things changed from just a dream to something where I actually felt I was making decisions.

After listening to these sounds for a bit a scene unfolded before me. It was the view of what appeared to be a combination of the city I now live in and the one I used to live in. I don't think I could hear the biaural beats anymore just the sounds of the scene I was witnessing. I was standing on the foot path which, with a road led to the city. This road and foot path ran paralell to the beach the whole way to the city. As I stood on the foot path many people, mainly young schoolgirls riding bikes with a passenger on the handle bars rode from the direction of the city past me. I took it that they had finished school for the day as they all seemed very happy. All this time I was thinking that this scene was a product of the binaural beats that I was listening to.

Now this is the part which freaked me out a bit.
After viewing this scene for a while it started turning opaque untill I could not see anything at all. I tried wiping this scene with my hands, like wiping the fog off a window but to no avail. There was definately no sound at this stage beacause I remember thinking I can't hear the binaural beats, and I couldn't see anything either - nothing at all. So I stood there for a while and thought well this is no good I'm going to have to try something, which is when I recalled something that I had read on the internet where people had posted the ways that they achieved obe or remote viewing, I'm not quite sure which one. Anyway it involved closing your eyes and focussing on the area slightly above the top of your nose - supposedly the location of your third eye. So I did this and concentrated on the blackness that I saw before me. Very soon after doing this I felt that I was laying down on my back and at the same time my whole body began to vibrate and hum - it is a sensation that I can still vividly recall right now. I then felt what I percieved to be me beginning to leave my physical body, with my left side beginning to peel away first. At this stage I freaked out a bit and remember thinking I'm not ready for this yet and it is only my first time listening to binaural beats and I'm already about to have an obe! I then immediately woke up and I was laying on my back - I never sleep on my back. I felt wide awake and not tired at all and when I looked at the clock it was just after 2pm.

The big things that stood out for me were that I was making decisions and thinking the whole time. And of course that vibrating sensation I felt along with the humming, which I'd liken to an electrical, transformer-like hum only a lot more intense. Also the overall recollection of the dream was a lot in comparison to usual.

Hopefully someone who reads this can relate or give me some insight into what happened or what was about to happen to me in that dream.

      Hi kyron, Welcome to dreamviews.

People also report auditory, visual, proprioceptive, and tactile hallucinations, as well as floating sensations and out-of-body experiences
This is apparently a common experience people run into when attempting to achieve a WILD.

Another argument is that your experience was the beginning of an astral projection or OBE, Your description ties in perfectly with the experiences of AP practitioners ive spoken with in the past.

Im going to suggest you keep up the practice and hopefully you can answer the question yourself .

Congrats on the experience, and keep us updated on future ones!

Hi RooJ and thanks for the reply,

The big thing for me in the dream was that I actually tried to project myself and was concious of the choice to do so, but I guess it totally took me by surprise that something really started happening. I have NEVER experienced anything like that before and now I'm kicking myself that I chickened out of whatever started to happen.

Its important to remember that in the dreamworld alot of the time thought usually equals reality. If you get scared or paranoid in a dream something scary normally happens, just the same as if you think about and try to project, something pertaining to your expectations of projection might happen. This isnt however to take away from your experience, and it certainly isnt answering the question of what happened to you. Im just trying to show you both sides of the coin.

I have NEVER experienced anything like that before and now I'm kicking myself that I chickened out of whatever started to happen. [/b]
Its quite common to be fearful of the unknown, the first time i experienced the vibrations i felt very uncomfortable, i had to convince myself i wasn't having some kind of fit . Take that attitude into your next experience and remember that nothing can harm you, and be sure to report back with your findings.

The first thing I did tonight when I got into work was type that post as I was excited and needed answers straight away. This whole concept is very new to me and seems truly amazing. Anyway since creating this thread I've been checking out heaps of other forums and found quite a bit on these vibrations that you get prior to obe. There seems to be no end to the methods that one can use to induce them so I will definately be trying. If only I had known about these vibes I'm positive that in my dream I would have embraced them and not been put off by the sheer intensity that came upon me.
