      A.D.D.

I was diagnosed with A.D.D. when I was young, but the medication quickly sorted my physical over acitivity. However it also increased my mental over activity, as a result I find it very hard to clear my thoughts or even stick to one thought for longer than 5 minutes.

Does anyone have any tips on how to stay focused? Perhaps some one else with the same condition?

By the way there is a good side to having A.D.D. My over active imagination leads to some varied dreams and so far I can't remember any dreams what were below the vividness of waking life.

      Welcome to the Site!

I have found that rubbing my hands together and focusing on the sensation of the rubbing helps me to stay lucid. My biggest problem is not getting overly excited and waking myself up. I am still working on staying cool, calm and collected.

I believe I've got a little A.D.D myself. I was on medication in 6th grade, but the meds just made me a basketcase. I couldn't sleep at night and when I did it was usually a nightmare. I stopped taking it about 6 months after I started. Never used it since. I have a hard time focusing on one thing for very long but when I really really need to focus I've found I can do it.

I found i couldn't sleep very well while on the medication. So they gave me another kind of medication to help me sleep, they told me if one pill wasn't enough try two, and if that wasn't enough try three. Well three wasn't enough so I tried four and had some of the worst psychological nightmares I've ever had.

I stopped the medication about a year ago(the sleeping medication I stopped just a few weeks after starting) and have found it easier to sleep since then, concentration is still a problem though, however in the recent exams at school I found I could concentrate when it was most needed.
