      Hey guys!

      Hey I just found out about lucid dreaming about 2 weeks ago and to me it seems really cool. I've been viewing these forums and ld4all.com for a while. I remembered when I was a kid and I had the most vivid lifelike dreams and I sware I even felt pain in this one dream, and when I flew in my dreams it was really scary. I'd really like to learn to LD but I am having trouble with it.
      For instance when I try to WILD I feel like i'm entering a dream for a few seconds then I wake back up. Then like 10 minutes after that I just fall asleep without even realizing it and I wake up and it's kind of dissapointing because I feel like I could LD with the tools I learned on this site.
      When I try WBTB I get up to turn off the alarm, might go to relieve my bladder if I have to . Then get back to bed and try to MILD and/or HILD, one time I stayed up for an hour and even tried to WILD. Then i'm either too tired to even care about LDing or I can't focus. Do any of you guys have any suggestions?

      Okay, my suggestions would be this:
      Firstly, don't put too much pressure on yourself, otherwise when you should be going to sleep, you are lying there worrying about going to sleep so you can dream. Just go to sleep! I find one thing that helps me go to sleep is a technique recommended in Stephen Laberge's book. You shut your eyes, become relaxed and then count 'one, i'm dreaming, two i'm dreaming, three, i'm dreaming' and so on, until you either find you ARE dreaming, or you've fallen asleep and woken up the next morning!
      If you can do this with a friend it's excellent as it helps you to learn to recognise when you are dreaming.
      Second thing i could suggest is this. If you don't recall anything during the night, don't stress out about it. it will come back. If you have the time, take an afternoon nap. It's a fact that you are more likely to fall into REM sleep in an afternoon nap than when you go to bed at night. You get there quicker for some reason.
      I find relaxing music helps as well.
