      Intro and 'Dream Themes'

New guy here. Hello. Hope I can stick around and contribute something. Question concerning my overall dreams and the concept of "Dream Themes". This isn't so much about lucidity as interpretation of dreams.

I've read (don't remember if it was from main site or not) about the concept of "personalized dream themes" and frankly...I'm not getting these. Understand the idea, but I just can't place them. Furthermore, should say that I've never been much of a right-brained thinker; I never have been good at interpretation in the first place. Things like poems, annotations of books, all that, evades me, and when I see how the person came up with that idea I just go "Whhhuuuhh?!"

Find it harder to peg down something that is personalized like that, because I can rarely determine how I feel about something in the dream. Now, yeah, haven't really logged many dreams yet; but I think of the 3 dreams that I would be able to start interpretation (and ultimately, start looking into lucidity after I've gotten a handle on that) and maybe form a pattern.

I will log the 3 into the dream journal forum eventually today, if you'd like to view 'em.

What I am worried about is that I'm not being thorough enough in my logs; that I'm "missing" something, so that I don't get the whole picture. After all, an idea or thing or the overall feel of the dream can be quite different depending on the feelings you get from it or how you feel about some of the things that appear in the dream.

So, I ask, what should I do?

Okay, i think it basically takes practice. When i first started writing my dreams down, i don't think i was very good at it, i had too many images swirling round in my head desperate to be committed to paper.
but, now i've been doing it for over a year, and i find that not only can i write what i've experienced in a dream, but other people can read it and say 'i read this, and it's like i was there!'
Maybe you should try reading other people's dream journals. Look for people that have a good descriptive quality to their writing, and maybe try to emulate that. When you write a dream down, don't just write 'fought two headed monster and won'.
Write about what the monster looked like. How did that make you feel? write about the fight, feelings, colours, smells, sounds. Write your dream down as if it's something you really DID experience. Like if you had an experience in the street in your day to day life, that you just had to tell your best mate about. You don't just say 'oh, i did so and so, and it was good'. you talk about how you felt, and hash it over.
      You follow?
      Give that a go.
PM me if you get any more questions with regard to this.
And keep writing. it really gets better with practise!
      Sorry for rambling on.
