hey all i come with a question :)

Hey there everyone, I'm very pleased to have found such an awesome lucid dreaming forum I can't wait to start working toward lucidity!

I had excellent dream control as a child, which of course disintegrated over the years. I've kept a dream journal sporadically for about two weeks now, and have noticed considerable improvement in dream recall.

I've also had one lucid dream (kind of) where i was in a desert, and I fell backwards and saw my legs flying up, then realized I was dreaming. It only lasted a few seconds though, then went to normal dreaming.

Since then, I've had little luck, except for when I found this place I do have a problem I'd like some help with if you can please.

Sometimes, after being very exhausted, I lay down on the couch and listen to my TV in the other room, not really paying attention to what is said but just listening. I slip into a dream, then most of the time I become aware I am dreaming. I'm not really all that excited, but I try very hard to maintain this state. However, I feel a pulling of my eyes, then a scene of some part of the room i'm in flashes in front of me, making me think i'm having some kind of Out of Body experience or something. It becomes black and white, and faded around the edges like tunnel vision, then I wake up The picture is burned into my eyes though, so when i close them again it's still there.

Has anyone else had this problem? I looked around in a lot of places and couldn't find anything about it. I'm worried I might have lost my dreaming ability because of childhood problems. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Other than that thank you for reading and for this awesome forum! Everyone have a good night

Hey, & welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you could be going through a WILD to me. If that is the case, keep trying on that!!
But if it is still there when you awaken, it is hypnotic imagery, a helpful tool that can help you WILD!!
Hope that helps...and if you have any other questions, ask away!!

      welcome

next time you see pieces of a room (even if they are distorted) stay calm and don't think about it too much. just allow the scene to unfold itself without being scared, excited, or emotional in any way (easier said than done i know ). chances are you'll eventually enter a lucid dream.

as far as losing you dreaming abilities because of childhood problems, i don't really think that can happen, unless maybe you had some form of physical injury..most people tend to lose the vividness and frequency of their dreams as they get older unless they dedicate time and energy to them.

Thank you both very much for your responses

I'm going to take your advice and try to remain passive next time this occurs. I'll also be looking up a lot more on this WILD stuff, too. Thanks again for the quick and helpful responses sweet dreams y'all!

Ah yes, they've both covered this pretting much. It seems like the beggining of a WILD, so yeah, just go along with it next time, it'll be worth it. May I just say that is VERY good for a new lucid dreamer, it's a hard technique to master.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum.
